07/09/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Comment not addressed. Clarify the size of the roof drain and overflow drain leaders. Sheet A6.1 calls out 2" and 3" roof and overflow drains, 8" and 3" rainwater leaders. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003. 2. Comment not addressed. Revise the roof drainage calculations (A6.1) using the roof data from this activity and the correct code edition. Note that Section 1101.11.1, UPC 2006 specifies, "Roof areas of a building shall be drained by roof drains or gutters." Your design only addresses the mechanical well in the center of the building. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1106.0, UPC 2006. 3. Comment not addressed. Revise the termination of the secondary (overflow) rainwater leader so that it terminates above grade in a location observable by the building occupants or maintenance personnel. Reference: Section 1101.11.2.2.1, UPC 2006. |
07/09/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Coordinate the envelope energy calculations with the proposed building construction. The walls are not shown as solid concrete and there is no continuous insulation ( the walls are shown as CMU and cavity insulation is shown in the furring). Not that R-19 fiberglass insulation will not fit in a cavity formed with 2x4's. 2. Insulation installed on a suspended ceiling with acoustic tile cannot be used to satisfy the energy code requirements. 3. The building sections indicate that R-30 insulation is to be installed but R-38 insulation is called out in the calculatios. 4. Neither the drawings nor the specifications call out the U-value or the SHGF of the glazing. |
