| 07/09/2008 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Comment not resolved. Provide a detail of the water heater installation, including the valves, flue size, flue height, and flue termination. Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 605.5, 608.3, and 608.7 UPC 2006. 2. Comment not resolved. Provide a floor drain adjacent to the 3-compartment sink per Section 704.3, UPC 2006. Note that the code does not eliminate the possibility of using one fixture for both uses if the fixture meets the requirements for both uses. For example, a floor sink set with its rim flush with the floor could act as both and indirect waste receptor and as a floor drain. 3. Revise the cleanout located upstream of the hydromechanical grease interceptor to comply with the requirements of Section 707.6, UPC 2006. 4. Provide a direct waste connection for the wash and rinse sections of the 3-compartment sink, with an indirect connection for the sanitizing compartment only. (Note that the sanitizing compartment would not normally be connected to a grease interceptor but the wash and rinse compartments would be.) Reference: Sections 304.0 and 801.2.3, UPC 2006. 5. The vent shown for the grease trap is incorrectly located; vents are located downstream of the traps they protect. Reference: Sections 1002.1 and 1014.2.3, UPC 2006. 6. The listing information for the specified hydromechanical grease interceptor indicates that the unit is incorrectly installed per the requirements of Section 1014.0, UPC 2006 and the manufacturer's recommendations. 7. The energy content of the natural gas in this area is approximately 1000 BTU per cubic foot. Resize the piping per Section 1209.4.3, UPC 2006. Reference: Section 1209.1, UPC 2006. 8. The automatic natural gas shutoff valve for the cooking line is not correctly shown. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1217.0, UPC 2006. |
| 07/11/2008 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Factory-built exhaust hoods that are listed and labeled as having been tested in accordance with UL 710 do not have to comply with the requirements of Sections 507.4, 507.7, 507.11, 507.12, 507.13, 507.14, and 507. 15. The hoods shall comply with the remaining requirements of Section 507 and all of Section 506. Provide design details to show that the installation of the two Type I hoods comply with the requirements of Section 506 and 507, IMC 2006. 2. The information provided on sheet M1.1 is insufficient to determine if the hoods are adequately supported and the structural calculations appear to be for a different building than the one depicted on sheet M1.1. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods for this project are supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006. 3. The hood installation detail shown on sheet M1.1 indicates that the hood installation does not comply with the requirements of Section 507.9, IMC 2006 for clearances. The wall behind the hood does not have non-combustible supports. 4. Clarify how make-up air is to be provided for the two Type I hoods using a Greenheck GXEW (Grease-X-tractor, Exhaust only, Wall style canopy) hood. Provide make up air for the two Type I hoods per Section 508.0, IMC 2008. |
