05/01/2008 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The design of the water heater piping, with a shutoff valve located between the water heater and both the expansion tank and the vacuum relief valve, makes it impossible for them to operate properly. Reference: Sections 608.3 and 608.7, UPC 2006 2. Based on the shell building water calculations, which show 5.8 PSI available for friction, several of the water pipes are too small. Reference: Sections 610.4 and 610.5, UPC 2006. (Note that the substitution of PEX tubing for the copper will require a separate calculation for determining the required sizes for PEX, based on the specified manufacturer's recommendations and a maximum water velocity of 8 FPS.) 3. Comment not resolved, see P-7, located along the east wall of the suite. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006 4. The floor drain, P-6, is shown on the fixture schedule and the water calculations but is not shown on the plumbing plan. It is required per Section 704.3, UPC 2006. 5. Provide pressure-absorbing devices for the water connections to appliances equipped with quick-acting or solenoid valves. Reference: Section 609.10, UPC 2006. |
