02/28/2008 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Denied 1. Provide the size of the existing water meter. The calculated water demand for the proposed dwelling is 18 GPM per Appendix L, UPC 2006. The water meter shall be sized to accommodate this flow or the fire sprinkler flow, whichever is greater. A demand flow of 18 GPM through a 5/8" water meter results in an excessive pressure drop and a velocity greater than the maximum 8 FPS allowed for either plastic or copper piping. In addition, Tucson Water limits a 5/8" meter to a maximum demand of 10 GPM. Reference Sections 610.2 and 610.12, UPC 2006.
