08/27/2007 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Finish revising the ventilation calculations for Gas Pack #2 to take into account the different occupancy loads (Dining and Corridor). Reference Section 403.3.2, IMC 2003. 2. The design for the introduction of the make up air into the kitchen using the "building standard" ceiling diffusers implies that while the quantity of make up air being introduced into the kitchen will equal the quantity of air being exhausted, it will not necessarily be the same air. Thus it is likely that the cold air being introduced into the kitchen during the winter will adversely affect the comfort conditions in the room. Provide information to show that the make up air for the kitchen hood complies with Section 508.1.1, IMC 2003. 3. Provide information to show that the offset of the flue for the water heater complies with the requirements of Section 510.6.1.4, UPC 2003. |
08/28/2007 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Provide water supply isometrics. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003. 2. The installation of the flow control device for the hydromechanical grease interceptor does not appear to be per the manufacturer's instructions, "as close as possible to the underside of the lowest fixture". In addition, Section 1014.3, UPC 2003 requires the flow control device to be "in a readily accessible and visible location"; see also the definition of readily accessible in Section 203.0, UPC 2003. 3. The water pressure calculations for the shell plans indicated a developed length of 358 feet, not the 187 feet shown on the calculations for the tenant improvement. Unless a separate water meter, close enough to justify the developed length of 187 feet, is serving the project, revise the calculations and the pipe sizes as required by the actual developed pipe length. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 2003. 4. Field-fabricated 2-way cleanouts are in violation of Section 707.6, UPC 2003. Provide the listing information for the noted 2-way cleanouts or use upper terminal cleanouts. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (e.g. P4) and for changes in direction greater than 135 degrees (e.g. the hydromechanical grease interceptor). Reference Sections 707.4, 707.5, and 707.8, UPC 2003. 5. Specify the backflow protection for appliances connected to domestic water (e.g. Note 16, sheet P1, coffee brewer). Watts makes many different types of backflow prevention devices. Specify the type of device per Section 603.2, UPC 2003. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003. |
