08/12/2008 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied The City of Tucson amendments to the International Mechanical Code (2006 edition) allow the use of the ventilation rate procedure (section 6.2) of ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2004 as an alternative method for calculating the required minimum ventilation for a building. Otherwise, the ventilation shall be per Sections 403.3 and 403.3.2, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 401.2, IMC 2006.
08/12/2008 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks require cleanouts regardless of length). The location of the cleanouts shall be shown on the drawings. See: F-6, room 119 and 139; FD-2, rooms 120A, 123 and 172; and FD-4, rooms 174, 175 (2 fixtures), and 183. Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006
2. Coordinate the grocery waste and vent riser diagrams (1 & 2/P701) with the plumbing floor plans. An additional cleanout is shown on the sanitary waste near room 170 in detail 2/P701 that is not shown on the plumbing plan, 1/P400.
3. The cross-sectional area of each vent for a combination waste and vent system shall be at least one-half of the cross-sectional area of the pipe being vented. See the vent for FD-2 for the CWV system along the north wall of room 174. Reference: Section 910.3, UPC 2006.
4. Revise the size of the common vent for the floor sinks and the hand sink located in room 180; it reduces from 5" to 2" and then increases to 5". Reference: Section 905.4, UPC 2006.
5. Detail 3/P311 shows two compartments of the 3-compartment sink in room 120 being directly connected to the sanitary waste instead of the grease waste. Revise the waste from the directly-connected compartments to connect to the grease waste piping. Reference: Sections 306.1 and 1014.1, UPC 2006.
