10/30/2007 HEATHER THRALL ZONING REVIEW Denied The building plans have been denied until a site plan is approved. Zoning can continue the review of the building plans once the site plan has been approved and the building code division approves the building plans. The building plans can be done as a walk through at the zoning review counter.
11/06/2007 LINDA BUCZYNSKI ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL.

PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov
IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS.

1. Provide cut sheets for all exterior lighting fixtures. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE PREVIOUS SUBMITTAL. Include flag pole light, roof-mounted flood lights (Fixture N), and rooftop compact fluorescent (Fixture K) cut sheets in the next submittal.
2. Demonstrate compliance with the Tucson Lighting Code, http://www.tucsonaz.gov/dsd/Codes___Ordinances/Tucson_Lighting_Code.pdf. Please note that the information required by Section 8 shall be ON THE PLANS. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE PREVIOUS SUBMITTAL. The 2006 Lighting Code has not yet been adopted, so the reviewer will consider compliance with respect to the currently enforced Code, per the link in the comments.
3. Please add flag pole lights, roof-mounted flood lights (Fixture N) and rooftop compact fluorescent (Fixture K) to total lumen count.
4. Please provide manufacturer documentation that the 400W metal halide fixtures have 20500 mean lumens, and that the 175W metal halide wall packs have 9300 mean lumens.
5. Provide Interior Lighting Power Allowances calculations per the 2006 IECC. Per email of 11/14/07 from Mark McCain: "The plans where submitted on 6-12-07 prior to the 2006 codes being adopted by the City of Tucson."
6. Wire size for Water Heater is indicated as "60". Smallest on Table 310.16 is #14. Typical.
7. Presentation of Panel A does not indicate the true number of circuits (initial capacity in terms of spaces, that is), since so many of the electrical loads are 3-phase.
8. Clarify location of Equipment 65 on Electrical Power Plan.
9. Equipment 65, at 2.2 HP per the Electrical Equipment Kitchen Schedule, could not be 25.2A at 208V 3-phase. Please clarify.
10. Equipment 94, a Walk-in Refrigerator taking 3-phase power per the Electrical Equipment Kitchen Schedule, is a single phase Cooler Coil on Ckt L1-60.
11. Specify the grounding of the telephone system. Reference NEC 800.100.
12. It appears that the overcurrent protection for Equipment 95 is oversized. See A-6. It should not exceed 20A per NEC 422.10 (E) (2) unless marked otherwise. Please clarify.
13. Ckt L3-4 is used twice, once on the Office Power/Data Detail, and once on the Electrical Power Plan.
14. Equipment 19 is specified as 3-phase on Electrical Kitchen Equipment Schedule, but is supplied by a single phase outlet on the Electrical Power Plan.
15. Griddles Item #4 listed as 24 KW on Electrical Kitchen Equipment Schedule, and 12 KW on panel schedule. Please clarify.
16. If griddles are indeed 12 KW, their overcurrent protection appears to be undersized. Reference NEC 422.10 (E) (3).
17. Overcurrent protection for W.I. FREEZER COND. on A-6 appears to be undersized. Reference NEC 422.10 (E) (3).
18. Connected load on Panel K totals 136.1 KVA, not 121.3, resulting in a 18% error in terms of spare capacity on that panel, after the Demand Factor is taken.
19. Demand load on Panel A was checked by adding demand loads of Panels L3, K, and L1 to the loads on Panel A, then adjusting for largest motor and kitchen demand factors. It appears that Panel A has 273.5 KVA demand load, not 261.2, or 760A, not, 725, which overstates available capacity by 88%.
20. Emergency lighting appears to violate NEC 700.12 (F), which requires such equipment to be fed from the same branch circuits as feed normal lighting in the respective area.
21. Wire size for Panel K feeder is 500 (MCM) on Panel A schedule, but is (2) sets of 3/0 on Electrical Line Diagram. Please clarify.
22. Panel L3 is rated 22K on its schedule, but rated at 42K on the Electrical One-Line Diagram. Please clarify, and note that 22K is sufficient.
23. Add the steel in the building foundation to the items in the grounding on the One-Line Diagram.
11/07/2007 GERRY KOZIOL WWM REVIEW Denied
11/08/2007 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The prep sink and the sanitizing compartment of the 3-compartment sink shall be indirectly wasted. The wash and rinse compartment of the 3-compartment sink shall be directly connected to the grease waste drain. Reference Sections 304.0, 1014 3.2, and 801.2, UPC 2003.
2. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks (hand sink in room 105) and urinals (shown as a lavatory in detail 2/P3.1, without a cleanout) require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference Section 707.4, UPC 2003.
3. The ¾" CW supply serving the hand sink and urinal will experience velocities greater than 8 FPS whenever the urinal is flushed (the average flow for the urinal over the typical 4-second flush time is 15 GPM.) The fixture connection sizes called out for the flush valves will result in water velocities greater than 8 FPS. Limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for the copper piping. Reference Section A 6.1, UPC 2006 and IAPMO IS 3-2003, Section 2.6.
11/08/2007 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Approved
11/09/2007 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Fan note 10/M4.2 calls for the restroom fans "…to be interlocked with the light switch". Unless the restroom lights are on continuously during occupied hours, when the restroom lights are off, the air supplied to the restrooms will be recirculated. The recirculation of ventilation air from toilet rooms is prohibited. Reference Section 403.2.1 (3), IMC 2003.
2. The shop drawings for KH-2 indicate a wall bracket (Detail B/H2.3) and a note that "all ventilators are equipped with hanging brackets" (Note 8/H2.2). No connection to the fryer assembly is indicated on the shop drawings. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hood, KH-2, is supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2003.
11/13/2007 RONALD BROWN BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. FONTS APPEARING ON SHEETS K2.1 AND K3.1 ARE NOT STANDARD AND UNLEGABLE
2. SHEET 3.1 DOES NOT HAVE NOTE STATING "TRUSS DEFERRAL PACKAGE PRIOR APPROVAL".
