Plan review for the above referenced structure has been completed. This letter reflects comments to be addressed. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide revised plans and calculations, highlighting any changes, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken.

SCOPE OF REVIEW:
The scope of this plan review covers architectural, plumbing, mechanical, energy conservation and electrical. All code references are to the 2006 International Residential Code, 2006 International Energy Conservation Code, and Arizona State amendments to the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided. All portions of this project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
All corrections and revisions shall be made on original tracings or a finished reproducible set. Return two sets along with a set of the first submission for reference. Pen or pencil corrections on final prints will not be acceptable. To avoid delays, ensure that all corrections have been made, are complete, and have been coordinated on all applicable detail and note sheets (clouded revision notation is not necessary for comment changes).

All engineers and architects involved in the design of the structure are to seal the related sheets of plans, details and calculations in accordance with the rules of the State Board of Technical Registration.

The City of Tucson adopted the 2006 IRC with amendments on 6/12/2007, the 2006 UPC with amendments on 7/10/2007 and effective 1/1/2007 the Inclusive Home Design. All plans should reference these codes. Adopted amendments are found at: http://www.tucsonaz.gov/dsd/Codes___Ordinances/Building_Codes/building_codes.html

GENERAL NOTES:

" All code references to the International Residential Code shall be changed from 2003 to 2006 with appropriate paragraph references at six locations sheet 6 and the Electrical Riser Diagram.
" Provide a complete (final) set of plans to include Mechanical and Plumbing.
" Interior alterations require the installation of smoke alarms at existing bedrooms, R313.2.1.

FLOOR PLANS:

1. Show compliance with R303.1 providing 8% natural light into the Living/Kitchen area.
2. Show compliance with R303.1 providing 4% natural ventilation into the Living/Kitchen area.

PLUMBING PLANS:

1. The plans should reference the appropriate Plumbing Code, either the 2006 UPC or IRC. Show the location and type of water heater.
2. Note and specify all piping materials, UPC 301.1.1. IRC P2608.
3. Provide pressure and temperature relief valve at water heater. T&P line must terminate at the exterior between 6 and 24 inches above grade and must terminate facing down, UPC 608.5. IRC P2803.6.1.
4. Clarify the point of connection of the new hot and cold water lines to existing service pipes. The supply pipes must be evaluated for sufficient size for controlling excessive flow rates, UPC 610.3. Provide pipe diameter UPC 610.8, Table 6-6. IRC P2903.6.
5. Show a shut off valve and hose bibb location, UPC 605.3. IRC P2903.9.1.
6. Any new hose bibs require backflow preventers, UPC 603.2.3.
7. Provide the BTU demand of each appliance, total demand, and total developed length from meter to the most remote appliance on the system, and verify the size of the supply pipe for the connected demand (may require upgrading), UPC 1217.2, & Table 12-7. IRC G2413.3.

MECHANICAL PLANS:

1. Note on plans: Mechanical shall comply with 2006 IRC chapters 12 - 24.

ELECTRICAL PLANS:

1. Specify recessed lighting with 3" separation from combustibles or IC listing, R808, and compliance with energy efficiency leakage, N1102.4.3.
2. Show the location of the panel, E3501.6.2 & E3605.8.
3. Designate the circuit number at the location of the water heater, E3603.5.
4. Show sub-panel feeder over-current protection (breaker size), E3605.5.
5. Show at least one wall switch controlled light for the Kitchen, E3803.3.

INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE:

1. Show the "U" factors of any replaced windows (U=0.75 max) on the plans as well as the solar heat gain coefficient SHGC minimum value of 0.40, N1101.2.
