RESUBMITTAL OF THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED: Revised site plan and additional requested documents
10/04/2007 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not addressed. The architectural site plan (AS101) appears to be incomplete. Revise the plan to show the size and route of the building water supply along with the location and size of both the water meter and the reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003.
10/05/2007 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide legible drawings. The architectural backgrounds are not visible on some of the sheets and some of the lettering has been overwritten so that it is not legible. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 1/8-inch (all upper case). Reference Section 302.3, Uniform Administrative Code, 1997.
2. Comment not addressed. A permanently legible imprint of the registrant's seal and signature shall appear on either the cover, title, index page, or first sheet of each set of project specifications. Reference Arizona Revised Statutes 32-125, Board of Technical Registration Rules R4-30-304.
3. A successful appeal to the building official has not been provided. The use of a single stack DWV system with unvented branch lines is not allowed per Section 311.4, UPC 2003. Provide documentation to justify the equivalency of this DWV system in an appeal to the building official. Reference Section 301.2, UPC 2003.
4. Revise (complete) the storm leader diagram (sheet MP-302). The provided diagram does not appear to reflect the design indicated in the plumbing plans. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003.
5. The architectural drawings do not indicate the presence of any scuppers and the roof drainage is directed to the center of the roof. Show how secondary roof drainage is being provided. Reference Section 1101.11.2, UPC 2003.
6. All plumbing fixtures (e.g. P-21A) located on or above the first floor that do not have to be routed through the grease trap shall be drained by gravity unless it is structurally impractical. Reference Section 709.0, UPC 2003.
7. Provide information to show that the 2" check valves specified for the ejector systems can pass a 2" diameter solid ball. Reference Section 710.3.3, UPC 2003.
8. Install the proposed grease interceptor according to the manufacturer's listing information (i.e. a solids interceptor is required with a flow control device located immediately before the solids interceptor). Reference Sections 310.4 and 1014.3, UPC 2003.
9. The flow control devices shown on the tailpieces of the 3-compartment sinks are neither installed per the manufacturer's listing nor per Section 1014.3, UPC 2003.
10. The sanitizing section of each 3-compartment sink and any other compartments used for food preparation shall be individually indirectly wasted. All other sections shall be directly connected. Reference Section 801.2.3, UPC 2003.
11. Normally open valves can be inadvertently left closed. The design of the water heater piping, as shown on sheet MP-400, with a valve located between the hot water storage tank and the expansion tank, makes it impossible for the expansion tank to accommodate the thermal expansion of the water in the water heater, as intended by Section 608.3, UPC 2003. Reference Section 505.6, UPC 2003.
10/08/2007 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide legible drawings. IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS.

1. Mechanical Engineer shall clarify circuit requirements MCA and MOCP, for AC units, before Code review. Which slash rating is applicable to the unit specified. Reference Sheet M-400, AC Unit System Schedule. THIS COMMENT MADE ON THE REVIEW OF 6/6/07. Minimum circuit ampacity on Sheet M-400 still appears like "26.1/28.5." Maximum fuse/breaker on Sheet M-400 still appears like "25/30." Mechanical Engineer shall identify which of the two options is required for these units, and remove the one which does not apply.
2. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 1/8-inch (all upper case). Reference Section 302.3, Uniform Administrative Code, 1997. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07. Electrical light fixture schedule sheet E-002 too fine a print to review. Blow this up, and all other text which does not meet this criterion.
3. Sheets E-101L and E-101LA not yet reviewed. Provide panel and circuit number for all electrical loads. All lettering minimum font size 1/8". Eliminate overwrites. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07. Could not coordinate drawings. Sheet E-003 too small font size to review. There is also some text which is too small to review on Sheet E-101L. Do not see Dimming Panel channel numbers, perhaps they are too small to read. There is some text too small to read on Sheet E-101LA.
4. For elevator HVAC branch circuits EM-67, EM-73, or EM-42, the overcurrent device shall be located in the elevator machine room. Reference NEC 620.22 (B), 620.53.
5. For elevator car lighting branch circuits EM-65, EM-71, or EM-40, the overcurrent device shall be located in the elevator machine room. Reference NEC 620.22 (A), 620.53.
6. Elevator machine room light and receptacle shall be on the same branch circuit. Reference NEC 620.23 (A).
7. Elevator machine room receptacle shall be GFCI protected. Reference NEC 620.85.
8. Elevator pit lighting circuits EM-B (30) and EM-B (32) have a symbol not defined. Reference Sheet E-100P. This symbol appears to represent a light with guarding. Additionally, it appears that the circuit descriptions on the panel schedules should include the receptacles.
9. Please locate Circuit EM-B (34) on the plans.
10. LP-A (15) and LP-A (24) appear redundant to EM-B (30), (32), and (34).
11. Define LP-A (16) and LP-A (25) on panel schedule.
12. Clarify the intent of the junction boxes on Ckts RP-B (28) and (29). Reference Sheet E-101P. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07. If the signage uplights is by a contractor who will not be working on this permit, then indicate so on these drawings. Otherwise, incorporate these uplights fully as a part of this design. Note that RP-B (28) and (29) still just indicate j-boxes, not future signage lights.
13. Specify the bonding required by NEC 680.26. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07. If the pool and of course its bonding is part of another permit, please provide such permit number such that we may verify and cross-reference in our system.
14. There is a single phase load on Revision 1 Sheet E-101P, EM-B (22). This is part of a 3-phase circuit feeding Panel OLP on the panel schedule.
15. Please reconcile the power requirements on the Electrical Connection Schedule, Sheet E-204 with those on the panel schedule for Ckt KP-8,10,12. If this 3-phase Convection Oven is indeed 5 KW, then its current draw would be 13.9A; the 30A circuit breaker would be oversized per NEC 240.6 (A) and 422.11 (E) (3). THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07. If this draws 21A, then the KVA on the panel schedule would read "7.6", not 4.4.
16. Provide listing information on the generator. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07. Cut sheets on Sheet E-500 do not include a 400KW generator. Please coordinate with the information on Sheet E-300, Electrical Riser Diagram.
17. It appears that the location of the disconnecting means for the Fire Pump Service, is not installed remote from the disconnecting means for normal service. Reference NEC 695.3 (A) (1), and 230.72 (B).
18. Labeling for Fire Pump Disconnecting Means will be required according to the requirements of NEC 695.3 (A) (1), 230.2, and 695.4 (B) (2) (3) and (4)
19. Specify the Disconnect Marking required by NEC 695.4 (B) (3). Provide the exact wording.
20. Specify the Controller Marking required by NEC 695.4 (B) (4). Provide the exact wording.
21. Specify the exact type of Supervision required by NEC 695.4 (B) (4).
22. Specify the exact method of protection for the Fire Pump Circuit Conductors required by NEC 695.6 (B).
23. Not that the Fire Pump Control Cabinet is located in the Electrical Room on Sheet E-200, and "Fire Pump Controller" appears as very cloudy lettering on an item on Sheet E-100P. Please clarify this very important location. Electrical Plans Examiner to review per NEC 695.7, 695.12, and 695.14 after such clarification.
24. Provide legible drawings. The architectural backgrounds are not visible on some of the sheets and some of the lettering has been overwritten so that it is not legible. This is most acutely noted on Sheets such as E-100P, where it is not possible to decipher the extent of the room within which the Fire Pump is located.
25. Please provide Civil drawings with the next submittal. Need to see the location of the generator.
26. Transfer equipment for emergency loads shall supply only emergency loads. Reference NEC 700.6 (D). There are certain electrical loads served by the transfer switches for Panels EM and EM-B which are not emergency loads, such as exterior lighting, ejector pumps, and garage fans.
27. Specify the sign required by NEC 700.8. Provide the exact wording.
28. Specify the marking required by NEC 700.9 (A). Provide the exact wording
29. Submit catalogue cut sheets for all exterior lighting. SECOND REQUEST. Include
GC, KB, GD, GB, BF.

32. Please add Fixture GB to the lumen calculations on Sheet STLG-100. Reference Sheet E-101L, 5 recessed halogen, pool.
33. Please add Fixture JD-1 to the lumen calculations on Sheet STLG-100. Reference Sheet E-101LA, 3 metal halide canopy uplights.
34. Please add Fixture BF to the lumen calculations on Sheet STLG-100. Reference Sheet E-101LA, 12 under canopy lights.
35. Fixture GC, at 35W, could not be only 35 lumens.
36. Fixture GG wattage not specified. No way to evaluate lumens.
37. Fixture KC can NOT be considered UNSHIELDED for the purpose of the lumen calculation, because it is being installed as an unlight.
38. From the reproduction of the cut sheet for Fixture BH, it is difficult to determine whether it is full-cutoff. The profile shot appears to be, but the photo above it appears not to be.
39. This site is zoned for Commercial, not Residential, and this will help when you rework these calculations. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07.
40. Provide a detail for the pole and foundation for Fixture GG. If the pole is greater than 20' in height, such details, and calculations for both pole and foundation, shall be sealed by a Registered Structural Engineer. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE REVIEW DATED 6/6/07. WILL REMOVE THIS COMMENT WHEN COMPLIANCE HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED.
41. Panel EM-B has 69.03 KVA, total, not 65.53, which computes to 191.1A, in aggregate. Since this is very close to the 200A rating of the circuit, please demonstrate that no phase is overloaded, on a phase-by-phase basis, and including 25% for continuous load and largest motor.
42. Please clarify "700A/1000A " designation on generator CB. Not in Symbols List Sheet E-001.

58. One Elevator is powered from Panel EM according to the Electrical Riser Diagram, and another is powered from MDP. If this is the case, show this on the panel schedules. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE SUBMITTAL OF 6/6/07. One elevator is on Ckt EM-MDP (1,3,5). According to the panel schedule this is a spare.
59. One elevator is on Ckt MDP (104,106,108). No such circuit on the panel schedule.
60. On Riser Diagram, one Elevator is on Panel EM, and the other is on Panel MDP-2. On EM-B panel schedule.
61. Panel EM shows Main Lugs Only for both sections on the panel schedules, but it has a Main on the Electrical Riser Diagram. Please clarify.
62. Panel EM-MDP shows Main Lugs Only on the panel schedule, but it has a Main on the Electrical Riser Diagram. Please clarify.
63. The breaker in EM-MDP which feeds through the Transfer Switch to Panel EM, sized at 400A, is adequate, but the panel and feeder are sized at 600A.
64. Panel EM's normal supply is from MDP-2. Please put EM on MDP-2 panel schedule.
65. Panel EM-B's normal supply is from MDP-1. Please put EM-B on MDP-1 panel schedule.
66. Could not find Panel DIM.
67. Circuit EM-MDP (8,10,12) accounts for 69.3 KVA on Panel EM. This panel totals 83.3 KVA.
