04/16/2007 MARTIN BROWN FIRE REVIEW Denied Correct all occupant loads on sheet X1.1 to 99.
Some still show 107 to 108.
04/19/2007 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide structural details to show how the existing roof framing is to be modified for the new roof opening for the installation of the grease exhaust duct. Reference Section 302.1, IMC 2003.
2. Second request. Provide calculations demonstrating adequate ventilation for the new occupancy. Reference Section 401.2, IMC 2003. The use of ASHRAE 62.1-2004 is allowed per the local amendments to the 2003 IMC but it must be correctly used and the use of the default values for the occupant density (Table 6-1) are required.
3. Second request. Provide a mechanical design for the kitchen exhaust system (Type I hood, grease duct, and exhaust fan) including the equipment data, and the electrical operating information. Reference Section 301.6, IMC 2003. The design shall be included on a drawing sealed by an Arizona registrant.
4. Second request. Show that the clearances for the grease duct comply with Section 506.3.6, IMC 2003. Detail 1/M2 provides no dimensions, and it is lacking in construction details for the shaft. If the use of a fire-rated duct wrap is to be used instead of the shaft, show it being used in accordance with its listing.
5. Second request. Show that the clearances for the Type I hood comply with Section 507.9, IMC 2003. The code requires 18" of clearance between the hood and combustibles. (See the exception to Section 507.9 that allows for zero-clearances; any wood studs in the janitor's closet would prevent the use of the zero-clearance exception at that location.)
6. Second request. Show that the installation of the exhaust equipment for the Type I hood complies with Section 506.5, IMC 2003. (i.e. is the exhaust termination at least 10 feet from the property line)
7. The balancing data, shown on sheet M1, indicates that the make-up air unit is supplying only 80% of the specified exhaust air for the Type I hood. Show the source of the remaining make up air and indicate how it is to comply with Section 508.1, IMC 2003.
8. Second request. Show that the duct sealing method specified in mechanical note #9, sheet M2 complies with Section 803.2.8.1.2, IECC 2003.
