| 01/05/2007 | Estevan Tineo | DOT ENGINEERING | REVIEW | Denied | January 5, 2007, T06PI00059, Hilton Garden Inn PIA: The following review comments, at a minimum, should be addressed in the next submittal. 1. Sheet 2 of 4: Demo Notes, Note 5: Add Water Service work to be coordinated with Tucson Water. 2. Sheet 2 of 4: Indicate pavement section. 3. Sheet 2 of 4: Excess r/w (for the proposed knuckle) must be abandoned as previously discussed. 4. Sheet 2 of 4: Indicate if new curbing is proposed along the south side of Lerdo Way. 5. Sheet 2 of 4: Indicate top of curbing elevation along the south side of Lerdo Way. 6. Sheet 2 of 4: How will the proposed pedestrian access ramp work with the existing scupper (ramp on the east side of Bonney Ave)? 7. Sheet 2 of 4: Provide Stations and Offsets describing the location of the proposed drainage structure in the r/w. 8. Sheet 2 of 4: Provide Station and offsets for proposed entrance driveways. In addition indicate driveway widths. 9. Sheet 2 of 4: Redraw Driveway and Ramp details (plan view depiction) to match actual standard details. 10. Sheet 2 of 4: Since the proposed Drainage Structure intercepts regulatory flow (flows greater than 100-cfs) indicate the pre and post 100-year ponding limits. 11. Sheet 3 of 4: Detail 2: Please add a note that water main modification to be coordinated with Tucson Water. 12. Sheet 3 of 4: Detail 1: Indicate r/w line. 13. Sheet 3 of 4: Detail 1 indicates grates but does not call out the type to be used? Call out type of grate to be used. 14. Sheet 3 of 4: Detail 1: In addition, since drainage structure is skewed to vehicular travel, grates must be able to handle this type of loading. Specify or design a grate that will be able to carry (structurally) these skewed vehicular loads. 15. Sheet 3 of 4: Detail 1: Call out stations and offsets for the proposed drainage structure. 16. Drainage review of proposed drainage structure in the r/w: Based on the "approved" drainage report I look for items that would impact the performance of this structure. I found the following issues: a. The report did not adequately analyze the proposed structure. The report only included a Hydraulic grade line calculation for box culvert structure? The analysis must include a backwater analysis (HEC-2 or HEC-RAS) of the drainage system for the ultimate outlet point to the inlet. b. The report did not adequately analyze the proposed structure. The report does not seem to provide the analysis used to size the number of grates proposed? Please revise as needed. 17. In reviewing the proposed PIA to the Site Plan the following was noted: a. The site plan indicates portions of the proposed detention basin and splash pad to be located (encroach) into the r/w. This is not acceptable, revise design to place these private drainage facilities on private property. The City (public tax-payer) does not maintain private infrastructure. |
