This letter contains comments which need to be addressed by written responses to each which indicate any actions taken. In order to facilitate a shorter second review, all corrections and revisions must be made on the original plans and two complete new sets of prints, along with one complete redlined set, must be returned to our office. To avoid delays, ensure that all corrections have been made, are complete, and have been coordinated on all applicable detail and note sheets, and that all changes have been highlighted with appropriate revision numbers, revision dates, and “cloud bubbles.” Pen or pencil corrections on final prints are not acceptable. This project has been reviewed for conformance with the 2003 IBC, 1997 UAC, 2003 IMC, 2003 IECC, 2002 NEC codes with local modifications, and the 2003 UPC with State of Arizona Amendments. Any revisions to this plan will require an additional review and approval by Willdan. Should you have questions regarding the comments herein, please contact your plans examiner Chris Kiel. Sprinklered Alarms N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A Special Inspection is required for the following items: N/A The following items are acceptable for deferred submittals: N/A GENERAL COMMENTS: General Please provide additional dimensions in order to verify compliance with the applicable sections of ANSI 117.1-2003, ADAAG, and 2003 IBC per section 106.1.1 of the 2003 IBC (i.e. hallway dimensions, dimensions inside and outside of the water closet compartments, maneuvering clearances for fixtures and doors, etc.). In addition, please indicate if the existing doors have automatic door openers, if they do not provide the required maneuvering clearances. Please provide addition information regarding the lavatories and drinking fountains in order to verify compliance with sections 602 and 606 of ANSI 117.1-2003. ARCHITECTURAL COMMENTS: Sheet A0.0 Please revise the plumbing code in the summary of government regulations to specify the 2003 UPC as adopted by the City of Tucson. Sheet A3.1 Please provide the vertical grab bar for the accessible water closets per section 604.5.1 of ANSI 117.1-2003. Please verify that the relocation of the existing partitions does not reduce the required water closet clearances per section 408.6 of the 2003 UPC (minimum 30” clearance, etc.). Sheet A4.1 Please provide verification that the women’s water closets provide the minimum clearances per section 408.6 of the 2003 UPC (minimum 30” clearance, etc.). Sheet A5.1 Please revise the men’s and women’s accessible water closet compartment to provide the minimum maneuvering clearances for the doors per section 404.2.3 of ANSI 117.1-2003 (i.e. side approach pull side requires 24” on the latch side for the men’s accessible water closet, but the water closet encroaches into this area, front approach push side requires 12” on the latch side for the women’s accessible water closet, if both a latch and closer is present, etc.). Sheet A7.1 Please revise the ramp to comply with section 405 of ANSI 117.1-2003, as the maximum rise is 30”, but the plans indicate a rise greater than 38”. In addition, please provide edge protection per section 405.9 of ANSI 117.1-2003. Sheet A7.2 Please provide landings at the top and bottom of ramps as wide as the ramp with a minimum length of 5’ per section 405.7 of ANSI 117.1-2003. STRUCTURAL COMMENTS: Reviewed and accepted.
