03/15/2007 LINDA BUCZYNSKI ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL.

PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov
IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS.

THIS IS AN INCOMPLETE REVIEW. SEE COMMENTS #1 AND #2 BELOW.

1. SECOND REQUEST. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 1/8-inch (all upper case). Reference Section 302.3, Uniform Administrative Code, 1997.
2. SECOND REQUEST. Panel schedules and lighting schedule font size too small for complete review. Will review branch circuits on Power Plan Sheet E1 and Lighting Plan Sheet E2, feeders and other electrical loads after Comment #1 above is resolved.
3. Provide electrical power for FC-2 fan unit. Equipment Power Plan on Sheet E1.2 identifies Ckt K2-26,28, which is a spare on the panel schedule.
4. Provide electrical power for FC-2 12 KW 3-phase heating. Reference Fan Coil Schedule Sheet M2.
5. If the 20A fuses are intended to provide overload protection to the Exhaust Fans, they should probably have 15A fuses, not 20A. Disregard if manufacturer instructions call for 20A.
6. Mechanical calls for condensing units to be provided by others. Since Electrical is providing a circuit on this project, it needs to be demonstrated that the electrical loads involved are appropriate for the circuits provided.
7. Riser Disgram calls Panel K1 250A. According to the panel schedule itself this is rated 225A. Please clarify.
8. SECOND REQUEST. Specify line side and load side ratings of any and all series-rated combinations. Provide fault calculations sufficient to demonstrate that higher rating is adequate. The MCB on Panel LP1 implies a 3-tiered rating, not necessarily available in the industry: provide manufacturer cut sheets and verification. Please note that in the case that Alternate #2 is employed, the magnitude of fault currents on the secondary side of the transformer may be such that such ratings are not necessary.

04/04/2007 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Second request. Provide structural calculations and details to show how fan coils FC-1 (AHU-8?) and FC-2 are attached to the building structure (i.e. the connection to the building, not the connection to the fan coil). Reference Sections 106.3.1 and 302.1, IMC 2003.
2. The use of ASHRAE 62.1-2004 is permitted by the local amendments to the IMC but the provided calculations do not appear to be based on the ventilation rate procedure, Section 6.2, ASHRAE 62.1-2004. The minimum ventilation for the kitchen should provide for a minimum of 0.70 CFM of exhaust per square foot and the calculations need to follow the method for a single-zone. The E-room is supplied with air from FC-2 and since there is no return to FC-2 except through the lobby, the outside air must come from FC-2. Similarly, the pass-through area is also served by FC-2 and must be included in the ventilation calculations for FC-2. The intermittent-use reduction (Note 1) has not been calculated correctly per Section 6.2.6.2 and may not be appropriate for AHU-8 given the areas covered by the unit. Reference Section 6.2, ASHRAE 62.1-2004 and Section 403.2, IMC 2003 as amended by the City of Tucson.
3. Second request. Provide structural calculations and details to show how the two Type II hoods are attached to the building structure. Reference Sections 106.3.1, 302.1, and 507.6, IMC 2003.
4. Transfer air is allowed to be used for exhaust makeup per Section 403.2.2, IMC 2003 but the source area for the transfer air must be supplied with sufficient outside air for its requirements as well as the amount of outside air to be transferred to the kitchen. Provide information to show that the amount of outside air supplied to the lobby complies with this requirement. Reference Sections 403 and 508.1, IMC 2003.
5. Provide the control sequence referenced in the fan coil schedule on sheet M2 to clarify the variability of the outside air flow rate for FC-2. Reference Section 106.3.1, IMC 2003.
04/04/2007 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide a vent for the floor drain nearest the 3-compartment sink. Reference Section 901.0, UPC 2003.
2. [No notes covering backflow devices are included in the plumbing fixture schedule. Also, notes G, H, I, and J are not visible on the schedule] Include backflow prevention devices to be used with specific kitchen equipment (e.g. espresso, chemical dispenser) in the plumbing fixture schedule. Appliances to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps require backflow protection. Reference Section 603.0, Table 6-2, and Table 6-3, UPC 2003
3. Revise the equipment callouts on the plumbing plans (P1 and P2) and the piping on the riser diagrams (P3) to coordinate with the actual kitchen equipment layout. The 3-compartment sink, P12, is located in the southeast corner of the kitchen and the dishwasher, P17, and the pre-rinse faucet, P18, are located in the southwest corner of the kitchen but the piping is reversed on the riser diagrams and the equipment callouts are reversed on the plumbing plans. (Similarly, the electrical power plans have a reversed equipment layout.)
04/18/2007 CHRISTY FOREMAN BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1) PROVIDE STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS FOR NEW MASONRY OPENING AND NEW MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT LOADS.

2) PROVIDE DETAILS FOR STRUCTURAL SUPPORT OF SUSPENDED ACCOUSTICAL CIELINGS, GYPSUM BOARD CIELINGS AND GYPSUM SOFFITS. PER RESPONSE COMMENTS I WAS REFERRED TO DETAIL #3 AND #5 SHT. A1. DETAILS DO NOT RESPOND TO CORRECTION REQUIRED.

3) PROVIDE WEIGHT OF SUSPENDED PANELS WITH # AND LOCATIONS OF HANGER RODS PER DETAIL 5/A2.1. PER NOTE DETAIL 5/A2.1 APPROVED SHOP DRAWINGS BY ARCHITECT SHALL BE PROVIDED AND APPROVED BY CITY OF TUCSON BEFORE PROCEEDING IN THE FIELD.

4) VERIFY MINIMUM PLUMBING FACILITIES HAVE BEEN MET FOR INCREASED OCCUPANT LOAD OF ASSEMBLY AREA. RESTROOM ARE ALSO USED BY BUSINESS AREA. PROVIDE JUSTIFICATION OF SQ. FOOTAGE AND OCCUPANT LOAD ON THE DRAWINGS.
