02/28/2007 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 1/8-inch (all upper case). Reference Section 302.3, Uniform Administrative Code, 1997.
2. The revised water pressure calculations do not agree with the shell calculations for design water pressure, minimum water pressure, the pressure drop for the meter and the building backflow preventer, and the developed piping length. Revise the calculations as required to take these components into account. Reference 610.1, UPC 2003.
3. Resize the drainage piping to conform to Table 7-5, UPC 2003, with no more than 8 fixture units on a 2" horizontal waste line. (Note that sink S2 appears to be equivalent to a public bar sink.) Reference Section 703.2, UPC 2003.
4. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference Section 707.4, UPC 2003.
5. Show how the dental chairs are to be drained without a vacuum system or restore the vacuum piping initially submitted. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003.
6. The floor sink initially shown in the equipment room appears to have been deleted along with the vacuum pump, air compressor, and the compressed air piping. Are these items to be restored to the project? Coordinate the scope of work with sheet A-1 and the electrical design. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003.
7. The design of the water heater piping, with a valve located between the water heater and the expansion tank, makes it impossible for the expansion tank to accommodate the thermal expansion of the water in the water heater, as intended by Section 608.3, UPC 2003. Reference Section 505.6, UPC 2003.
8. Revise the specification of the selected lavatory faucets to include a flow limitation of 0.5 GPM. The maximum flow rates for plumbing fixtures shall be consistent with ARS Title 45, Chapter 1, Article 12. See text at: (http://www.azleg.state.az.us/ArizonaRevisedStatutes.asp). Reference Section 402.1, UPC 2003, as amended by the State of Arizona.
9. Include all fixtures (i.e. all seven S2 sinks) when calculating the total demand and determining pipe sizes. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 2003.
10. The mixing valve specified for limiting the outlet temperature of the hot water to 110 degrees at the lavatories is listed as complying with ASSE 1017. The ASSE 1017 listing is for valves in hot water source or multiple outlet applications, not the single fixture application shown on drawing P-5. Reference Section 301.1, UPC 2003.
