This letter reflects comments to be addressed. SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this plan review covers architectural, plumbing, mechanical, energy conservation and electrical. All code references are to the 2003 International Residential Code, 2003 International Energy Conservation Code, and Arizona State amendments to the 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided. All portions of this project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: All corrections and revisions shall be made on original tracings or finished reproducible set. Return this set and a copy along with a set of the first submission. Pen or pencil corrections on final prints will not be acceptable. To avoid delays, ensure that all corrections have been made, are complete, and have been coordinated on all applicable detail and note sheets. As of 9-02-04 the City of Tucson has adopted the 2003 IRC with the exception of the plumbing portion which has been replaced with the 2003 UPC with amendments. All plans should reference these codes. See this site for all adopted amendments: http://www.tucsonaz.gov/dsd/Codes___Ordinances/Building_Codes/building_codes.html Stapled attachments to the plans are not acceptable. Place the attached calculations and riser diagram onto the Electrical Sheet. This may be accomplished by the copying service when obtaining two sets of final review plans. ELECTRICAL PLANS: 1. Show the location of the panel on the plan, E3501.6.2. Panelboard access requires 30"wide x 36"deep clear working space, E3305.2. Panelboards may not be located in clothes closets or bathrooms, E3305.4. 2. All receptacle outlets serving kitchen countertops shall have ground fault circuit interrupting protection. Label each receptacle GFCI requiring such protection, E3802.6. GFCI receptacles may be installed at ungrounded outlets, if marked "No Equipment Ground", NEC 406.3(D)(3)(b) or (c), although Note #1 on the Electrical plan shows "Correct all receptacles lacking equipment grounds." Please clarify the drawings. If installing without a ground, place the "No Equipment Ground" statement on the plans with instructions for labeling the receptacles. 3. Note that two or more 2O AMP small appliance circuits shall be provided to serve kitchen countertop receptacle outlets; they may also serve the breakfast room and dining room. Such circuits shall not serve other rooms, E3603.2 and E3801.3 through E3801.4.5. Remove the bathroom light from circuit #3. 4. Show a bathroom exhaust fan venting to exterior with minimum 50 CFM rating R303.3 and M1506. 5. A receptacle outlet shall be provided within 3' of the basin in each bathroom, E3801.6. Bathroom receptacles shall be on a separate 20 AMP circuit with no other outlets, E3603.4. Remove from circuit #1. A 20 AMP circuit may be installed at spare spaces #5-8. See comment #2 for installing a GFCI receptacle. 6. Note that an arc-fault circuit interrupter shall protect bedroom outlets including receptacles, lights and smoke detectors, E3802.11. Arc-fault breakers are available from many suppliers. The sub-panel may be replaced with a new panel that includes arc-fault breakers.
