04/24/2006 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The applicable code for all commercial plumbing projects is the 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code with Local Amendments.
2. All plans require a minimum of 1/8" type, all uppercase. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003.
3. Provide a cleanout for the drain piping downstream of the grease trap. Reference Section 707.8, UPC 2003.
4. Provide a vent to protect the grease trap from siphonage and back-pressure. Reference Section 1002.1, UPC 2003.
5. The waste and vent schematic shows the mop sink and an existing floor sink being connected to the existing grease trap. Show the location of the flow control device (and its vent) for each fixture connected to the grease trap on the waste and vent isometric. Floor sinks can't be connected to a grease trap because the flow device must be visible and readily accessible. Reference Section 1014.3, UPC 2003.

2. Sheet E-1.1 Keyed Note 1. Registered Electrical Engineer shall determine extent and type of Classified Location for replacement of fuel pump, turbines, and sump pumps. Also for the dispenser, and specify conduit and conductor size and type, overcurrent protection size and type, and location of disconnect . This location shall be clearly diagrammed on the plans. Registered Electrical Engineer shall provide full and detailed Electrical Design. Shall not rely on Contractor to verify "integrity of hazardous area and update."
3. Call for seals in dispenser conduits. Reference NEC 514.9 (A) & (B).
4. Demonstrate compliance with NEC 514.13.
5. Provide a Key to Symbols. Lighting Plan not discernable. Keynote 1 points to lighting fixtures not on Lighting Fixture Schedule, but refers to new lighting. Circuit C-27 accounts for Existing Back Lights only on the panel schedule, but on the plans powers Fixtures A, which appear to be new. Fixtures A are drawn directly adjacent to Fixtures E.
6. G8 Hot Water Heater takes 3-phase power, 50A, 18 KVA according to the Equipment Schedule, but receives single phase power on a 30-A circuit only 10 KVA according to the electrical plans. Please clarify.
7. Provide disconnects for TG7 and C17A. Reference NEC 422 Part III and NEC 430 Part IX, as applicable.
8. Provide overload and ground fault and short circuit protection for B2E.
9. Fill in load on Panel Schedule, Circuit B-35.
10. Provide power for A12 and A12A.
11. State on the plans that roof receptacles shall not be connected on the load side of equipment disconnects.
12. Existing Panel A is overloaded.
13. Account for continuous loads and largest motor on Panels A and C. Carry corrections through to Load Summary as necessary. Note that Load Summary lists 109A for Panel C, not 122 as does the Panel load tabulation.
14. Since 42K is available at the service entrance, please address the fact that the equipment at this point is only rated for 36K.
15. Since 29632A are available at Panel A, please address the fact that the equipment at this point is only rated for 10K.
16. Since 34094A are available at Panel C, please address the fact that the equipment at this point is only rated for 10K.
04/24/2006 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 1/8-inch (all upper case). Reference Section 302.3, Uniform Administrative Code, 1997.
2. The code applicable for kitchen hoods in this jurisdiction is the 2003 International Mechanical Code, not NFPA 96.
3. Clarify the nature of hood EH-1; is it new or existing? . Reference Section 106.3.1, IMC 2003.
4. All UL 710-listed hoods are intended for use with fire extinguishing systems. Is the proposed (existing?) hood equipped with a fire suppression system? Reference Section 106.3.1, IMC 2003.
5. How is make-up air for the hood being supplied? Reference Section 508.1, IMC 2003.
6. The hood schedule on sheet M-2 calls for 600 CFM but the exhaust hood calculations on M-1 call for 700 CFM. Please coordinate the drawings. Reference Section 106.3.1, IMC 2003.
7. Provide details to show that the Type II hood is supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2003.
8. Provide listing information for the proposed exhaust fan, EF-1, that shows that the fan is suitable for the Type II hood. Reference Section 106.3.1, IMC 2003.
9. The minimum insulation for ducts located in unconditioned spaces within the building envelope is R-5 (installed). Reference Section 803.2.8, IECC 2003.
