06/12/2006 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Revise the submitted water calculations to include the actual developed length of water piping from the meter to the furthest outlet. Revise the fixture unit table to correspond to the values shown in Table A-2, UPC 2003 for assembly fixtures and include the fixture units for the hose bibb. Reference Section 610.0, UPC 2003.
2. Provide manufacturers cut sheets for the Crane fixtures that show that they are suitable for a minimum operating pressure of 15 PSI. (Note that the model numbers provided for the Crane fixtures are not shown in current Crane literature.) Reference Section A 3.1, UPC 2003.
3. Coordinate the source of the water supply for the new restrooms with the plumbing plan and the water isometric. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003.
4. Show how the temperature of the hot water supply to the public lavatories is controlled. The water heater thermostat cannot be used for this purpose. Reference Section 414.1, UPC 2003 and Section 804.3, IECC 2003.
5. Second request. The fixture connection sizes called out for the urinal flush valves will result in water velocities greater than 8 FPS. Limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for the copper piping. Note that the specified Sloan flush valve (Model 8180) has a 1" IPS inlet. Reference Section A 6.1, UPC 2003 and IAPMO IS 3-2000, Section 610.0.
6. Second request. Provide the listing for the two-way cleanout fitting called out in detail 2/P1.1. The model provided, Zurn Z1449, is a cast iron cleanout ferrule with an ABS plug, not a two-way cleanout. Reference Sections 103.2.3 and 707.6, UPC 2003.
7. Restrooms containing two or more water closets or a combination of water closets and urinals shall be equipped with a floor drain. The floor shall slope towards the floor drain. Reference Section 412.2.1, UPC 2003.
8. Provide the opening sizes for the proposed roof scuppers. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 2003.

IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS.

1. Provide the disconnects required for the Indoor Units. Reference NEC 430 Part IX.
2. Manufacturer requirement for Indoor Units is for a 15A fuse. Please provide the fuse at the disconnect. If the manufacturer specifies a maximum size for a fuse, then a circuit breaker does not meet this requirement, regardless of its size.
3. 2003 IECC calculations use 2.2 W/SF allowed. For Restrooms, this number is 0.9.
4. Provide an overcurrent protective device for the new feeder. Reference NEC Article 240.
5. Formula used to calculate fault current is erroneous. It needs another multiplier of "2" for single phase calculations.
6. The use of the let through currents on current limiting overcurrent protective devices is not permitted to attenuate fault currents for panelboards.
7. The use of the "c" value of 11423 for #2 copper is questionable.
8. Document the source of your information for the 22,000 AFC at the TEP transformer.
9. Eliminate the GND between the gutter and the new disconnect. Reference NEC 250.24 (B), 250.28, 250.142 (A) (1).
