| 04/18/2006 | MARTIN BROWN | FIRE | REVIEW | Denied | 1) Provide complete sprinkler design criteria on plans, including: a) Identification of hazard classification, including any special hazards. b) The standard to be used for the construction detail. c) The availability and adequacy of the water supply, including static pressure, residual pressure, and flow in GPM. d) The determination of the design density and area of operations. 2) Note on sheet FP1.0 (section F) states Fire Protection system will NFPA 13, not 13R. The next paragraph states fire sprinklers will not be required in bathrooms or closets. NFPA 13 requires sprinklers in bathrooms and closets. This exception is not allowed under NFPA 13, but is allowed under NFPA 13R. Please clarify. 3) The Response to Fire Department comment (#2) was incorrect. There was not a problem with the Fire Lane. The concern was the location of the Fire Department Connection. Then FDC appears to be located behind a fence or wall. Need to verify sufficient clear space in front of FDC for Fire Department personnel to make connection. Will also need a sign nearby to identify location of FDC to Fire Department personnel. 4) Indicate which buildings are to be sprinklered. |

Equation 5-1 of the 2003 IBC. 3) Are the meeting, lounge, and breakfast area to be sprinkled? 4) Sheet A9.0 re; wall types, some of their descriptions show the word similar, cross out similar or delete it and show the actual description as shown on the report. 5) At bottom of code summary shows 45000x3=90000 not correct. Check the arithmetic. 6) Re; sheet A9.0-wall types-show all wall details and descriptions exactly as described in the U.L. reference with no modifications. 7) How is the building area being treated? As non-separated use or separated use? See sect. 302.3.1 and sect. 302.3.2. 8) What does RCP mean? 9) In accessible units with roll-in showers, provide a permanently mounted folding shower seat. Section1107.6.1.1 10) In all sleeping rooms provide an openable window with a clear area of 5.75sq.ft. and a minimum height dimension of 24" and 20" width. 11) Provide a one-hour floor/ceiling assembly, as per UL, IBC, or Fire Resistance Design Manual. 12) Sheet A4.4 at conference room seems to show a folding partition. Show how it is being supported. If supported from roof provide engineering calc`s. 13) Stair and elevator shafts to have a 2-hour rated wall enclosure. Show on plans. 14) Provide spec`s for THERMO-PLY storm brace. Specify the resistive stress or force value. 15) Provide a reference for gyp-crete showing the weight when applied on the floor. 16) Sheet S1.3 of plans -Roof Note #4 stipulates IBC 2000-rectify to read IBC 2003. 17) Specify the shear value of the 15/32 RS shear wall.lb/ft 18) Separate permit required for pool and signs. 19) Provide engineering calc`s for House-Bar including lateral analysis. 20) Provide calc`s for patio lintels for the Gatehouse, also include lateral analysis. 21) Sheet A5.2 detail 16and 20- Is the 16" dimension from the wall or partition? 22) Sheet A7.1-Specify length of extension of handrail or guardrail. Twelve inches minimum required 23) Sheet A7.2-Specify diameter of lag bolts. See details 2 and 6. 24) Note # 1 of sheet S1.3 shows wind speed of 90mph but sheet 28 of lateral design Shows a wind speed of 75 mph. Correct design to reflect a 90 mph wind speed. 25) Provide calc`s for the design of the roof and floor diaphragm for all buildings. 26) Sheet S2.1 Re; Shearwall notes on plans and notes on calc`s are not in accordance With each other. See last 2 sheets of calc`s. 27) The wind exposure factor to used shall be exposure ©. 28) Sheet S2.1-Note #4 Specifies 2x6@16 o.c. but calc`s call out 2x8@16o.c. Clarify! The 2x6`s are called out throughout the plans and details. 29) Provide engineering for stair stringers, handrails, and guardrails. Design the Connections and provide the connection details. 30) Provide foundation analysis for gateway building and pool house. 31) Soils engineer shall specify site classification in his report. Show in report. 32) Provide a short description as to the meaning of the columns and rows shown in the lateral calc`s How does it relate to the plans. Since there isn`t a schematic diagram showing the labels of the shearwalls , how can one know what forces are acting on a certain wall. Clarify! 33) Provide draft stops at all attic spaces. Show on plans. 5/01/06 1) Comment #12 asks for engineering calcs for the folding partition. Where are the calcs? 2) Stairway and shaft enclosure doors shall be 1-hr rated instead of ¾ -hr as shown and all openings shall be protected by 1-hr rated protection. 3) Plan 1 BEDROOM A shows window H in bedroom, but does not show the clear dimensions on the window to verify it complies to the emergency requirements. 4) Specify the scale used on sheet A6.1. 5) Divide the calculation package so that each building has its` own calcs`. Each set shall be complete with its` own fondation structural members, connections, and lateral design. Provide a road map(sketch) to show clearly the complete design. Number all sheets. Provide explanations where needed. 6) Resubmit plan for rereview. 7) Provide computations for the handrail connection detail 2 or 6 on sheet A7.2. 8) Comply to comment #6 dated 2/27/06. | 05/02/2006 | LINDA BUCZYNSKI | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. Underwater Pool Light, 003, is called Z04 on the Lighting Code calculations. 2. The Lighting Code calculations count 7 Fixtures SA, and there are 11 on the plans. 3. From the cut sheets of Fixtures D19 and D20, they are not full cutoff as described on the Lighting Fixture Schedule. As such, they will have to be added to the lumen count per the Tucson Lighting Code. 4. From the cut sheet of Fixture SA, it is not clearly full cutoff as described on the Lighting Lumen Schedule. They may have to be added to the lumen count per the Tucson Lighting Code. 5. From the cut sheets of Fixtures Z06, D19 and D20, they are incandescent. As such they do not comply with the 2003 IECC source efficiency of 45 lumens per Watt. 6. From the cut sheet of Fixture Z06, it is not clear that this is a FCO fixture. Printout from email of 3/27/06 not legible. 7. Please provide IECC calculations for the New Storage and New Poolhouse Buildings. COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE PREVIOUS REVIEW. Do not follow Response to this Comment. It appears that the calculations for both of these buildings would have been rolled into the calculations for the main building itself. This does not demonstrate compliance with the IECC, which allows Lighting Power Budget calculations to be made on the basis of Tenant Area or an Entire Building, but not on a complex of buildings on the same site. 8. Fixture 003, an incandescent light, does not comply with 2003 IECC source efficiency of 45 lumens/watt. Verify if a proper substitute can be found for this underwater fixture. 9. Add L1B-36 to Keynote 1 Sheet E2.1. 10. Provide a circuit for the flagpole light. 11. Provide GFCI protection for Elevator Equipment room per NEC 620.85. 12. Sheet E6.3 SB MSB1 size the EGC. 13. Provide depth of foundation, psi of concrete, rebar characteristics, and all other aspects necessary for pole and foundation detail. Reference to Structural Engineer on Sheet E5.4 is not sufficient, as there is no inclusion of the poles or their foundations in the Structural plans or calculations. For any pole which exceeds 20' in height, structural calculations shall be submitted for both the pole and foundation, and sealed by a Structural Engineer registered in the State of Arizona. THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE PREVIOUS REVIEW. 14. Verify that Recirculation Pump 1, as specified on Sheet P3.4 for 230V, may be powered at 208V. COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE PREVIOUS REVIEW. Sheet P3.4 still calls out for a 230V piece of equipment only. Please coordinate with Plumbing. 15. Add Specifications for the bonding and grounding of the pool, fountain, and spa. Reference NEC 680.26, 680.42 (B), 680.53, 680.54, and 680.55. 16. PATC-B has 19.3 MCA according to the specifications on Sheet M5.1A. Yet Electrical Ckt only accounts for 400 VA @ 208V. Please coordinate with Mechanical and clarify. 17. Specify that the disconnect means for the elevator car equipment be capable of being locked in the open position. Reference NEC 680.53. 18. WH2 has 3-4 KW simultaneous electrical loads per Sheet P3.4. Electrical Ckt LIP-32,34 only totals to 8 KW. Please clarify. |
