X Revise Plans for Compliance IRC Section R105.3.1 MODEL ENERGY CODE COMMENTS X 1. Identify on the mechanical drawing the required insulation for mechanical systems piping. IRC Section N1103.5 The required thickness of insulation is not shown. Identify on the drawing the actual thickness for insulation on HVAC piping. X 2. Recessed lighting fixtures type and rated installation requirements shall be noted on the drawing. Coordinate this with fire-resistive requirements. N1102.1.11 All recessed lighting fixtures installed within the insulated ceiling shall be noted on the drawing to be Type IC rated or specific details showing installation for non-IC rated fixtures shall be provided on the drawing. STRUCTURAL FRAMING PLAN COMMENTS: X 1. Specify all structural material types, species, grades, etc. and depict the construction of all walls, roofs, floors and braced/shear walls. Wood stud and steel stud construction shall be shown to comply with the prescriptive requirements of applicable IRC Sections or the components shall be designed by an Arizona Registrant. Wood, steel, masonry and concrete components shall comply with prescriptive/empirical design requirements of IRC Sections or shall be designed by an Arizona Registrant. R301.1.3, R401, R501, R502.2, R505, R601, R602.10.10, R603, R604, R801, R1001, R1003 With regard to the foregoing code sections the proposed truss roof design, post supports and foundations can not be shown to comply with the prescriptive methodology of the IRC. Accordingly, structural design plans, details and calculations shall be provided under seal of a qualified Arizona registrant engineer. X 2. Indicate all braced wall panel locations. Specify the method of bracing and materials to be used. A sealed lateral analysis, prepared by an Arizona Registrant, when the bracing does not comply with the conventional prescriptive provisions. R301.1.3, R602.10.10. Refer to wall ends and interior shear walls. Brace wall lines shall be spaced not further than 35-feet on center. An interior braced wall line is required under the prescriptive code. Braced wall line shall extend up to and be attached to the roof sheathing. An alternate solution may be designed by a qualified Arizona registrant engineer. X 3. Specify and show location for required framing hangers/connections used to attach trusses to girder trusses, walls, beams or other structural components. IRC Section R502.11, R802.10 & ANSI-TPI 1995, R104.11. In accordance with the foregoing code sections, plans and details specifying truss hangers shall be designed and sealed by a qualified Arizona registrant engineer. The truss design engineer shall note on its design sheets that it has reviewed the building design plans and details and found that the proposed supporting wall connections and other attachments identified to be installed on the trusses are in accordance with its specifications. OUTDOOR LIGHTING CODE: X 1. Provide catalog cuts of all outdoor lighting fixtures identifying fixture shielding or non shielding installation conditions and output lumens for each outdoor lighting fixture. Flood light fixtures shall be noted on the drawing to be aimed no higher than 45 degrees below the horizontal. X 2. Provide on the drawing appropriate tabular calculations that identify Outdoor Lighting Code site designation, total site area, allowable lumens per Table 5.1, conditions for installation of outdoor lighting fixture type, total lumens allowed at the site, maximum unshielded lumens at the site, and the actual installed lumens at the site for each fixture type.
