01/18/2006 RICHARD LEIGH DOT ENGINEERING REVIEW Denied RESUBMITTAL REQUIRED: Public paving plans and drainage report.

The Engineering - Permits and Codes Section has reviewed the paving and does not recommend approval of the PIA Plan at this time. The following review comments need to be addressed in the next submittal.

1. Approval from COT Parks and Recreation is required for the proposed multi-use pedestrian path along Houghton Road. Please contact: Glenn Hicks, Lead PlannerCapital Planning and Development, Parks& Recreation Dept., (520) 791-4873 x 215(520) 791-4008 (fax), ghicks1@ci.tucson.az.us

2. Sheet 1: Change sheet title and title block to include "Houghton Road and Escalante Road" on the first line.

3. Sheet 1: Include the following general notes:

The City shall not be held liable for any errors and/or omissions on these plans. Items not meeting City Standards shall be repaired/replaced at no cost to the City.

An excavation permit shall be obtained from the City of Tucson Transportation Department prior to any work within the Public right-of-way.

A pre-construction field meeting shall be conducted with the City of Tucson Transportation inspector prior to any work within the public right-of-way.

The extent and type of surface treatments/repairs indicated on the plans may not be all inclusive of the work that is needed. Additional repairs, paving, or replacement may be needed depending on field conditions.

The Engineer of Record shall field verify that the "saw cut" line is located within competent pavement. Adjustments to the plan shall be documented and As-built; a one foot minimum shall be provided.

4. Sheet 1: Remove signature line for City of Tucson Engineer.

5. Sheet 1: Indicate that Pima County's approval is for the work in the Escalante ROW only.

6. Add the plan number "I-2005-070"in title blocks.

7. Sheet 2: Include the existing edge of pavement (EOP) and proposed EOP in profile.

8. Sheet 3: Provide a detail of the inlet of storm drain and junction structure at ± 8+45.52, 56.1 RT (Houghton Rd). Additionally barricade railing will have to be provided around the inlet.

9. Indicate the use of RCP for all proposed storm drain in the ROW, including the storm drain extension.

10. Shteet 3: Has the proposed storm drain at Sta. 5+00, 108 Rt. (Houghton Road) been sized to convey the 10yr storm flows under the paved pedestrian path? Submit drainage report sizing all drainage structures and addressing any inlet and outlet requirements per COT SMDD&FM manual.

11. Sheet 3: Include the existing edge of pavement (EOP) and proposed EOP in profile.

12. Sheet 3: Two keynotes are labeled as number 7.

13. Has the proposed relocation of the traffic signal facilities and fire hydrant been coordinated with respective COT department?

14. Sheet 5: Details A and B: Indicate the minimum pavement and aggregate base thickness per the approved geotechnical report for of the proposed pavement widening on cross sections details A/5 and B/5. Existing pavement section must be matched, if existing pavement section is greater than the geotechnical report recommendation. Do not refer to geotechnical report.

15. Sheet 5: Provide a thickened edge detail for the pavement widening on Houghton and Escalante Roads

01/18/2006 DALE KELCH DOT TRAFFIC REVIEW Denied Traffic Engineering REJECTS this PIA submittal:

1. The title of the referenced manual is "The Manual ON Uniform..." not of. (General note 11, sheet 1)

2. Add to general note 11, sheet 1 the following: "Contact Traffic Engineering@791-4259 48 hours prior to placing or removing any said traffic control devices."

3. Eliminate R3-7R signs from Escalante Road.

4. Add leader to relocated R2-1 sign at station 6+00

5. Identify sign at station 9+50(approximate) on Houghton.

6. There are 17 notes required from sheet 2-1 of the Pavement Marking Design Manual. This plan only lists 16.
