RESUBMITTAL REQUIRED:
PIA and Drainage Report.The Engineering - Permits and Codes Section has reviewed the PIA Plan and Drainage Report and does not recommend approval of the PIA Plan at this time. The Drainage Report is reviewed for PIA purposes. The following review comments need to be addressed in the next submittal.

The attached comments are based on the information provided and is not meant as an all inclusive list of items that must be addressed but a check for general conformance to City Standards. The Engineer of Record (The Engineer preparing and certifying the plans, in this case Stantec Consulting) is responsible for the plans/design meeting all applicable Standards, Codes, Ordinances, and for any issues errors and/or omissions.


1. Add plan number (I-2005-061) to all sheets.

2. Approval from COT Parks and Recreation is required for the proposed multi-use pedestrian path along Houghton Road. Please contact: Glenn Hicks, Lead PlannerCapital Planning and Development, Parks& Recreation Dept., (520) 791-4873 x 215(520) 791-4008 (fax), ghicks1@ci.tucson.az.us

3. Submit an approved revised drainage report analyzing how the proposed improvements will impact existing flow.

4. Provide all nose and surface treatment details for the proposed median island in Houghton Road.

5. Headers will have to be provided at the radius of the NE, NW and SW corners of the intersection of Houghton Road and Valencia Road.

6. Indicate a pavement taper, per attached detail, at all the beginning and endings of the proposed pavement widening sections. A minimum 2' pavement section will have to be provided to allow for a thickened edge.

7. A minimum 8' graded shoulder with a 2% cross slope will have to be provided adjacent to all striped paved areas. Indicate this on all applicable cross sections.

8. Show curb and edge of pavement in roadway profiles.

9. Provide plat recordation information (Book and Page) where referenced.

10. Change title block to the Permit and Codes title block "Sheet 2" on sheets 2,5,6,7,and 8, see attached.

Sheet 2:
11. Change General Paving Note 13 to refer to 2003 editions of the PC/COT Standard Specifications for Public Improvements and PC/COT Standard Details.

12. Detail 2/2, Change width of thickened edge from 12" to 24".

13. Detail 2/1, Add note clarifying that the saw cut line in existing pavement must be a minimum of 1 foot.

Sheet: 3:
14. Detail 2/3, Show a pavement sawcut line at a minimum of 1 foot from the face of the proposed median island curb. A 1' minimum is needed to allow for proper forming of the curb. Additionally, indicate surface treatment of median island.

15. Detail 2/3, Indicate the cross slope (2%) of the pedestrian path.

16. Provide a detail of the north curb access ramp located at the driveway entrance, Sta. ±13+15 (Houghton Rd). Will the proposed sidewalk scupper conflict with curb access ramp?

17. Provide a vertical curb transition, per Std. Dtl. 212, where the Vertical curb transitions to a header at the curb access ramps ramp located at the driveway entrance, Sta. ±13+15 (Houghton Rd).

18. Indicate radii of the curb return beginning at Sta. 11+93.81, 62.81 RT and ending at12+11.17, 46' RT (Houghton Rd).

19. Show existing multi-use pedestrian path along Houghton Road. Indicate the tie-in details.

20. Barricade railing per Std. Dtl. 105 will need to be provided around existing catch basin/culvert inlet located at Sta. ±15+60, 55' RT. Additionally, label existing drainage structures.

21. Detail 4/3, Indicate the placement of barricade railing per Std. Dtl. 105 at culvert inlet.

Sheet 4:
22. Detail 4/4, Indicate the application of truncated domes per ADOT C-Std. Dtl. C-05.30 as the detectable warning device.

23. Station the BCRs and ECRs and indicate the curb return radii (Typ.)

24. Detail 2/4 and 3/4 indicates a fixed width from EOP to R/W limit while the pavement width from centerline varies.

25. Keynotes 26 and 27 are ineligible.


Sheet 6:
26. According to the approved Tentative Plat/Development Plan (S04-026) General notes
26.4 indicates that sidewalk must be provided on the south side of Valencia Rd along the entire length of the rezoning site. Additionally, a curb access ramp will need to be provided at the southeast corner of Houghton Road and Valencia Road. Show improvements on this plan set.

11/09/2005 DALE KELCH DOT TRAFFIC REVIEW Denied Traffic Engineering REJECTS this PIA submittal:

1. General Paving note #18: the current edition of the MUTCD is the 2003, not the millennium edition.

3. The proposed removal of the existing traffic island to the south of the subject property on Houghton Road shall not be allowed.

4. Remove W9-1 sign at station 15+28 on Houghton Road.

6. Remove "Detail 4" for call out regarding median end treatment near station 16+40 on Houghton Road.
