04/06/2006 | LINDA BUCZYNSKI | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. Provide listing information for the PV modules. 2. Verify that the PV cable furnished from the manufacturer is long enough to cover the distance from the end panels to the junction boxes, especially the run which must go the entire 26'8" length of the series panels plus the distance to the box. 3. NEC 690.9 (A) requires overcurrent protection for photovoltaic source circuits. None has been provided this project. However, an Exception allows the source circuits to be installed without OCPDs if the short circuit current from all sources does not exceed the ampacity of the conductor, and if there are no external backfeed sources. This may be the case with the GT3.0 inverter. Please see the attached Technical Bulletin of August 2005 and Letter from CSA 8/29/05, and determine if it applies. 4. Cut sheet specifies pre-assembled cables and connections. It is assumed that this is the method of connection between panels. Please clarify this on the plans. Unless such method is by cable and connectors supplied by the panel manufacturer and listed, provide sufficient information in such specifications to demonstrate compliance with NEC 690.33. 5. Provide the exact wording on the plans for the marking required in NEC 690.53, by the DC disconnect. 6. EMT is questionable for this application. Suggest the use of IMC. This is not a Code-issue, but I would think IMC would last longer for the Owner, outside and exposed. 7. Please draw the #8 Grounding Electrode Conductor as going unspliced to the Grounding Electrode. Reference NEC 250.64 (C). The GND run with the conduit to the meter and AC service disconnect is for Equipment Grounding, and may be #10. See the attached Grounding Utility-Interactive PV Inverters. 8. General Note 5 on Sheet E1 could be confusing, because General Note 2 specifies all wiring to be installed in conduit. |
