09/30/2005 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Confirm that suspended water heater complies with the access requirements of section 511.0, UPC 1994 with AZ State amendments.
2. Termination of the excess pressure relief from the water heater into an overhead overflow pan is not approved location. Reference Section 608.5, UPC 1994.
3. Clarify what a "funnel receptor at lavatory trap tailpiece" consists of and how it complies with Sections 804.1 and 1001.2, UPC 1994.
4. Clarify the meaning of the keynotes (?) on the toilet room plumbing plan. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.

IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS.

1. Circuit L-25 has been used twice, once for the sign, and once for the RTU outlet.
2. Please include a load of 200 VA /LF for the Show Windows on Ckt L-1. Reference NEC 220.12 (A).
3. With 400W MH lighting per the Light Fixture Schedule, Ckts L-2, L-4, and L-6 should be counted as 1200, 1600, and 1600 VA respectively. Verify that all lighting and sign electrical loads are counted at 1.25% in the Load Summary.
4. Carrier does not provide 20 KW heat on the RTU specified, according to the Mechanical Plans Examiner. MCA is 59A according to the catalogue cut sheet, which would compute to about 49.0 KVA, not 20. A quick check of load calculations, given this comment and those above, results in an electrical load of about 103A, which would overload the panel and conductor specified for this installation.
5. It appears that the load on Panel L is 36.4 KVA, which may overload the 30 KVA X'FMR. This considers the sign, track lighting, and other lighting at 1.25%. This may also overload the #8 conductor.
6. Provide load calculations to demonstrate that service and any distribution panels are not overloaded.
7. Electrical Specifications Fire Alarm System Notes are not necessary, because the requirement for a duct detector is satisfied on the same page, and such notes are furthermore incorrect because they imply that the Contractor may design such a system, which would not be permitted in this jurisdiction. Note that Fire has approved this set for construction.
8. Electrical Specifications Method and Materials Note 17 refers to NEC 250-72. No such section on the 2002 NEC.
