Miller Avenue Adding Train Caboose Display to Train Museum Site plan 2nd Review Transmittal date: October 26, 2005 COMMENTS: Please resubmit revised drawings along with redlines and a response letter, which states how all Zoning Review Section comments regarding the Land Use Code and Development Standards were addressed. 1. A striped pedestrian path will not meet minimum requirements for an accessible pedestrian sidewalk. Refer to D.S. 2-08.5.1.C for acceptable composition of sidewalks. In addition, D.S. 2-08.4.1 requires that all sidewalks within a project be physically separated from any vehicular travel lane by means of curbing, grade separation, barriers, railings, or other means, except at crosswalks. The site plan shows the pedestrian path located in the middle of a PAAL. (D.S. 2-02.2.1.A.12) Per DS 2-02.2.1.12 and ANSI Chapters 4 & 5, handicapped circulation should be provided to the proposed caboose display. Please include handicapped ramps and crosswalks in the modification of the pedestrian access to the caboose display. Note, the maximum slope of handicapped accessible ramps are 1:12. Please provide a typical detail drawing of the handicapped ramps to be provided on the site. Note, to ensure the access areas are installed safely, sidewalks and pedestrian/handicapped access areas may not be located between any motor vehicle parking space and the PAAL providing access to that space, DS 2-08.4.1.F. 2.
