1) Clarify changes that need to be reviewed for this revision. Cloud, date, and number the revision.
2) It appears walk-in freezer & refrigerator at back of building are new. If these are new please justify per code additional sq. footage per the IBC 2003. Structural calculations and drawings will be required if this is new square footage.
3) Justify new door opening in bearing wall. Clarify existing door at delivery is to be infilled or remain.
4) Clarify / justify loading of new exhaust hood on existing structure. It appears different hood has been specified. Provide new loads and calculations justifying installation. Include weight of black iron ductwork.
05/08/2006 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Section 309.1, IMC 2000 requires a minimum room temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit on a design day, not 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Section 302.1, IECC 2003, as amended by the City of Tucson calls for a winter design temperature of 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Revise the submitted calculations to show that the make up air for the kitchen hood complies with Section 508.1.1, IMC 2000. (Note: is the equipment duct-mounted equipment called out as EH-1 on the mechanical floor plan supposed to be DH-1?)
2. Clarify the sizes of the make-up air ducts on the roof.
3. Coordinate the hood design elements as shown in the keynotes, exhaust hood calculations, and the mechanical floor plan (e.g. exhaust duct: 18"x 16", 18"x 14", or 18"x 12"; Exhaust hood: 10'x 3', 12'x 3', or 12'x 4'?).
4. Provide a cut sheet from the hood manufacturer showing the weight of the hood.
5. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hood is supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2000.
6. Revise the installation of the hood to provide 18" of clearance between the hood and combustible construction (note that wood studs covered by gypsum board and a sheet of stainless steel are considered combustible construction by the IMC). Reference Section 507.9, IMC 2000.
7. Specify the minimum resistance (R-value) of the duct insulation to be used on this project. Reference Section 803.2.8, IECC 2000.
05/09/2006 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The existing ¾" water meter is unable to accommodate the projected demand flow without excessive pressure loss. Contact Tucson Water for the maximum flow rates for each meter size. Reference Section 610.2, UPC 1994.
2. Clarify the number of floor sinks that will be in place at the completion of the project. Reference Section 703.1, UPC 1994.
3. Clarify the nature of sinks S1 and S2. Prep sinks, as noted in Section 801.2, UPC 1994, require an indirect waste.
4. Provide the standards and listing requirements for the sinks being supplied by the owner. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.
5. Clarify how the water main moved 40' closer to the building. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.
6. The revised water pipe sizes are not supported by the provided water calculations.
7. Detail 4/P2 has been modified to call for a new water heater to be mounted above the ceiling. Show how access is being provided to the water heater. Provide structural calculations and details to show how the unit is to be supported from the roof structure. Reference Sections 103.2.3 and 511.2, UPC 1994.
8. If the new water heater is not equipped with integral heat traps, provide heat traps on the supply and discharge piping and insulate the first 8 feet of the supply and discharge piping per Sections 804.4 and 804.5, IECC 2003.
9. Provide each plumbing fixture connected to the grease trap with a readily accessible, vented flow control device. Reference Section 1011.3, UPC 1994.
10. The design of the floor cleanout located closest to the grease trap does not comply with Section 707.6, UPC 1994.
11. Modify trap arm lengths to conform to Table 10-1, UPC 1994.
