12/13/2005 | CHRISTY FOREMAN | BUILDING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | CITY OF TUCSON DEVELOPMENT SERVICES STRUCTURAL REVIEW COMMENTS DATE: 12/13/05 ACTIVITY NUMBER: T05CM03307 PROJECT NAME: La Fresita PROJECT ADDRESS:1655 S. Alvernon Way ARCHITECT / ENGINEER: Paul M. O'Connor PROJECT REVIEWER: Christy Foreman TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1108 OR EMAIL AT CFOREMA1@CI.TUCSON.AZ.US IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1) Clarify roof framing members and spacing.Show location of equipment and framing members it will span. Justify EXISTING roof framing can carry aditional loads. 2) Sht. A-1 accessibility requirements state per UBC. City of Tucson has adopted the 2003 IBC with ANSI A117.1 2003. Provide the vertical grab bars and show clear floor space required for each fixture on the floor plan. 3) Provide justification that existing roof framing can carry the new load for the water heater. |
12/15/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The pipe sizing information supplied by Wirsbo for its Aquapex product has fixture units that are not the same as those shown in Tables 6-3 or A-2, UPC 1994. In addition, the fixture unit table by Wirsbo allows velocities in excess of 8 feet per second, which is not allowed for PEX. Provide pipe-sizing calculations for this material that conform to the requirements of the 1994 UPC and complete the design for the manifold distribution system by specifying the manifold and locating the main manifold on the plumbing plan. Provide access to the manifolds. 2. Provide the listing information for a reduced pressure backflow preventer having a pressure drop of 4.7 PSI. Reduced pressure backflow prevention assemblies must be approved per ASSE 1013-99. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 3. Coordinate the fixture unit calculation with the plumbing plan to include all connected fixtures (e.g. hand sink). Clarify the number of floor sinks that will be in place at the completion of the project. Note the requirements of Section 610.10, UPC 1994. 4. The water piping on the latest submittal was not sized per Section 610.4, UPC 1994. Provide calculations showing water supply piping is sized in accordance with Sections 610.4, 610.7, 610.8, 610.9, and 610.10, UPC 1994. Appendix A is not applicable because this project has less than 50 fixture units and a developed length less than 200 feet. Reference Section 610.4, UPC 1994. 5. Detail 4/P2 has been modified to call for a new water heater to be mounted above the ceiling. Show how access is being provided to the water heater. Provide structural calculations and details to show how the unit is to be supported from the roof structure. Reference Sections 103.2.3 and 511.2, UPC 1994. 6. If the new water heater is not equipped with integral heat traps, provide heat traps on the supply and discharge piping and insulate the first 8 feet of the supply and discharge piping per Sections 804.4 and 804.5, IECC 2003. 7. Revise the location of the grease trap flow control device to be visible and readily accessible. Reference Section 1011.3, UPC 1994. 8. The design of the floor cleanout located closest to the grease trap does not comply with Section 707.6, UPC 1994. |
12/15/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Clarify how the calculated minimum outside air, 438.5 CFM, is reduced to 304.9 CFM for the common ventilation calculations. Revise the common ventilation calculations to show that the quantity of outside air for RTU-1 is in accordance with Section 403.3.2, IMC 2000. 2. Section 309.1, IMC 2000 requires a minimum room temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit on a design day. Section 302.1, IECC 2003, as amended by the City of Tucson calls for a winter design temperature of 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Revise the submitted calculations to show that the make up air for the kitchen hood complies with Section 508.1.1, IMC 2000. (Note: is the equipment called out as EH-1 on the mechanical floor plan supposed to be DH-1?) 3. Coordinate the mechanical and electrical designs (e.g. EF-2, EF-3, and DH-1). |
