10/10/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The electrical design shows light switches in the restrooms controlling the restroom exhaust fans. Provide information on the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fans to show that recirculation of the air from the restroom will not occur. Reference Section 403.2.1, IMC 2000. 2. Comment not addressed. Show the electrical requirements of the heat tape used for freeze protection for EF-2 and the walk-in freezer. 3. The occupant load used for the submitted calculations shall be based on the occupant load shown Table 403.3 or on approved statistical data. Also provide ventilation for the areas not in the kitchen or dining area. Reference Sections 403.3 and 403.3.2, IMC 2000. 4. Comment not addressed. Coordinate the design of the exhaust systems for the grills, griddle, and the fryers as shown on the "K" sheets and the "AC" sheets. 5. Comment not addressed. Provide information to show that the design of the common grease duct serving EF-2 meets the requirements of Sections 506.3.5 and 506.3.8, IMC 2000. 6. Comment not addressed. Show how the common grease duct serving EF-2 is supported. Reference Section 506.3.4, IMC 2000. 7. Comment not addressed. Provide cleanouts for the common grease duct serving EF-2. Reference Section 506.3.10, IMC 2000. 8. Comment not addressed. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods are supported in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2000. 9. Comment not addressed. Provide information to show that the make up air for the kitchen hood complies with Section 508.1.1, IMC 2000. |
10/11/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The submitted plumbing drawings have lettering of various sizes, most of which are smaller than 10-points, and the drawings are so poorly reproduced that they will result in illegible microfilm records. Revise the drawings as required to clearly show the nature and extent of the proposed work. Reference Section 302.3, Uniform Administrative Code, 1997. 2. The requirements of Section 507.3 as amended by the State of Arizona are for two openings, each with a minimum of 50 square inches of net free area. Provide manufacturer's data showing that the 10"x 5" louver has a net free area 50 square inches. Reference Section 507.4, UPC 1994 as amended by the State of Arizona. 3. Detail 3/P-3 does not address the issue of backflow protection. Appliances (e.g. Ice machines, carbonators, coffee makers) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps may require reduced pressure principle backflow preventers. Please submit equipment sheets for determination. A backflow device is called out for the filtered water but it is not identified as to type or size. Reference Section 603.0, UPC 1994. 4. Include all fixtures (e.g. the HW and CW outlets at the trash enclosure) and the water requirements of the HVAC equipment (e.g. the evaporative cooler and EF-2) when calculating the total demand and determining pipe sizes. See Table 6-3 for the fixture units of water supply outlets not otherwise identified on Table 6-3. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 1994. 5. Show the location of the cleanouts on the riser diagram. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks and urinals require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference Section 707.4, UPC 1994. 6. Clarify the design of the waste piping and the nature of the waste from EF-2. Drawing P-2 shows three drains being directly connected to the grease drain system but the drains do not appear on the riser diagram (1/P-5). No traps or vents are indicated on the scrubber (drawing AC-5) and 1" pipe is not an approved size for drains. Show why the waste from the scrubber is to be directly connected and provide a complete plan. Reference Sections 103.2.3, 703.1, 803.0, and 807.1, UPC 1994. 7. A 1" hot water connection with a reduced pressure backflow preventer is shown on the scrubber (drawing AC-5). Provide a listing for the RPBP that shows that it is compatible for the intended service with 160 - 180 degrees Fahrenheit water. Reference Section 603.2.5, UPC 1994. 8. Clarify the design intent of the "PVC pipes for water, oil, and CO2". Shown on sheets K-9 and P-3. See the title in the lower left-hand corner of sheet K-9. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 9. The design of the roof overflow drain (detail 5/P-5) does not meet the requirements of Section D2.1, UPC 1994. See detail 1/A-6 for an example of an approved design (if one of the drains is equipped with a 2" water dam). 10. Show the sizes of the roof drains for the trellis (sheet A-18) and provide overflow capability for the structure. Reference Sections 103.2.3 and D1.1 (d), UPC 1994. 11. Key note 19 on sheet P-1 describes a 3" area drain located in the trash enclosure. It does not appear to be connected to any drainage piping, but if it is to be connected, show how rainwater will be kept out of the sewer system. Reference Section 306.2, UPC 1994. |
10/25/2005 | LINDA BUCZYNSKI | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. Change Note 5 Sheet E-2, to read: Fixtures installed in wet locations shall be marked "Suitable for wet locations." Fixtures installed in damp locations shall be marked "Suitable for damp locations." 2. Minimum font size is 10 point, or a little over 1/8". Please enlarge as necessary. Much of the font is still under 1/8", for example, Sheet E-2. 3. On Sheet E-2, PNLBD Note 9, which calls for a #10 GEC to the Ufer, shall be a #8. Reference NEC 250.32 (E). 4. Please provide Panel E with a Circuit Breaker. Reference NEC 225.31, 225.32. 5. Circuit Breaker protecting Panel C shall be 225A, not 250. Reference NEC 408.16. 6. Note 4 Sheet E-4 still implies that the Contractor calculates motor contribution. Do not leave it up to the Contractor to determine if motor currents exceed 1% of the rating of the lowest OCPD. 7. Note 4 Sheet E-4 calls for Panel D to be series rated. It is unclear why this panel should need such rating considering the AFC to the line-side UPS has been calculated to be only 2.79 KA. I would question whether the UPS manufacturer would install an output OCPD designed to operate in series with a load-side panel. 8. Note 3 Sheet E-4 states "…each device shall be fully rated with upstream devices…" This appears to be a contradiction in terms. 9. Note 3 Sheet E-4 calls for Panels A and C to be fully rated. Panel schedules are annotated to indicate that they are series rated. Please clarify. 10. Please review all references to fault current rating of panelboards, and clarify exactly what the Contractor shall do. If the Contractor has options state so explicitly and state explicitly what such alternatives are. Proofread for contradictions. 11. Keynote 2 on Sheet E-2 please change the wording "FEED TAP L = +/- 10'" TO READ "FEED TAP L = 10'." |
