01/12/2006 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The details on sheet K-8 and the structural calculations (SC-11) indicate that the Type I hoods are mounted on combustible construction, a violation of Section 507.9, IMC 2000. Revise the structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods are either supported from non-combustible construction or have 18" clearance from combustible construction. Note that the IMC does not consider wood studs covered by gypsum board and stainless steel sheets to be non-combustible. 2. Provide the actual weights of the Type I hoods so that the structural calculations can be evaluated. Reference Section 106.3.1, IMC 2000. 3. Clarify the facilities requirements for MAU-1. A water connection for it is shown on sheets P-4 and P-5. If MAU does not have an evaporative cooler section, show how the make up air complies with Section 508.1.1, IMC 2000. |
01/12/2006 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Provide backflow protection for appliances (e.g. Ice machines, beverage dispensers, high pressure washer, etc.) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps. Reference Section 603.0, UPC 1994. 2. The note for the carbonator (#18) on sheet P-6 (plumbing fixture schedule) indicates a double check valve may be used instead of a reduced pressure backflow preventer and on sheet P-5 a double check valve is shown as protection for the carbonator. Only a reduced pressure backflow preventer is allowed for this use. Reference Section 603.3.12, UPC 1994. 3. The note for EF-2 on sheet P-6 (plumbing fixture schedule) indicates a reduced pressure backflow preventer is to be installed "if required by local authority". Design issues are not to be left to the contractor in the field. 4. Complete the specifications for the booster pump installed at the water heater (detail 4/P-5). 5. Provide the sizes for the roof drains and overflow drains for trellises and the covered trash enclosure shown on sheets A-14 and A-18. Coordinate the roof drainage with the architectural design. Reference Sections 103.2.3 and D1.1 (d), UPC 1994. |
