12/12/2005 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not addressed. Provide backflow protection for appliances (e.g. Ice machines, beverage dispensers, coffee makers, etc.) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps. Reference Section 603.0, UPC 1994.
2. Comment not addressed. Include water requirements of the HVAC equipment (e.g. the evaporative cooler) when calculating the total demand and determining pipe sizes. See Table 6-3 for the fixture units of water supply outlets not otherwise identified on Table 6-3. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 1994.
3. Comment not addressed. Show the location of all of the cleanouts on the riser diagram. Design issues are not to be left to the contractor in the field. Reference Section 707.4, UPC 1994.
4. Comment not addressed. The 1" hot water connection on the scrubber (drawing AC-5) indicates a minimum inlet pressure of 60 PSI. Based on the submitted calculations, this appears to be impossible even with no other water demand. Show how the equipment is to be installed per the manufacturer's requirements. Reference Section 304.1, IMC 2000.
5. Comment not addressed. Clarify the how the storm drain ("3" SD DN") shown in the northeast corner of the building (sheet P-2) relates to the locations of the storm drains shown on sheet P-4.
6. Comment not addressed. The roof drains for the trellis are not shown on the plumbing drawings and sheet A-18 does not indicate any overflow capability. Coordinate the roof drainage with the architectural design. Reference Sections 103.2.3 and D1.1 (d), UPC 1994.
7. Comment not addressed. Clarify which lines on the water and gas floor plan (P-3) and the water riser diagram (P-5) represent cold water, hot water, and hot water return. Reference Section 103.2.3 UPC 1994.

The following comments from 12/6/05 still have not been responded to on the drawings.

1) Where is list of Special Inspections required per first paragraph of agreement. Special Inspection forms need to be submitted before a permit will be issued. Per the Special Inspection and Testing Agreement where is the complete list of materials and work requiringspecial inspection by section 1704 of the IBC 2003, the inspections to be performed and a list of the individuals, approved agencies or firms intended to be retained for conduction such inspections.
2) Show how the common grease duct serving EF-2 is supported.
3) Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods are supported.
12/12/2005 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not addressed. The number of occupants used for the submitted calculations does not appear to be based on the occupant load shown Table 403.3 for the size of the dining room (100 people per 1000 square feet). Also provide ventilation for the areas not in the kitchen or dining area (e.g. office, corridors, utilities). Reference Sections 403.3 and 403.3.2, IMC 2000.
2. Comment not addressed. Coordinate the design of the exhaust systems for the grills, griddle, and the fryers as shown on the "K" sheets, sheet A-6, and the "AC" sheets. Provide information of exhaust fans EF-6 and EF-7, noted on AC-4, A-6, and K-7.
3. Comment not addressed. The provided air velocity calculations show that the design of the common grease duct serving EF-2 meets the requirements of Section 506.3.5 only for the individual branch ducts and the last 4 feet of the common grease duct. Revise the duct design so that the remaining 18 feet of the common grease duct also meets the minimum velocity requirement. Note that while the minimum velocity requirement does not apply within duct transitions (not greater than 3 feet in length) between the duct and hoods or fans, it does apply within duct transitions at branch connections.
4. Comment not addressed. Show that the design of the common grease duct serving EF-2 meets the requirements of Section 506.3.8, IMC 2000.
5. Comment not addressed. Provide cleanouts for the common (horizontal) grease duct serving EF-2 at least every 20 feet. Reference Section 506.3.10, IMC 2000.
6. Comment not addressed. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hoods are supported in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2000. Note that the details on sheet K-8 show the Type I hoods mounted on combustible construction, a violation of Section 507.9, IMC 2000.
7. Comment not addressed. Provide information to show that the make up air for the kitchen hood complies with Section 508.1.1, IMC 2000.
