PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. Specify that installation shall comply with the 2002 National Electrical Code. 2. THWN, is not recommended for photovoltaic source circuits. Suggest THHN, which is rated to higher temperatures, which has been specified on the AC side, and which could be less expensive. 3. Specify wiring method between modules, whether in conductors with strain relief, conduit, etc. 4. Technical description indicates that wiring box can be separated from sealed inverter enclosure. Please specify that the DC disconnect on the plans is in such separate enclosure. 5. Provide current listing information for the Xantrex GT 3.0 inverter. 6. Plot the location of the row boxes on the plans. 7. Specify connectors being used between panels. 8. It must be clear on the plans/product literature that connectors are polarized. Reference NEC 690.33 (A). 9. It must be clear on the plans/product literature that connectors are of the locking or latching type. Reference NEC 690.33 (C). 10. NEC 690.33 (E). requires connectors to be capable of interrupting the circuit current without hazard to the operator. Since such a product is not available on the market, UL has been requiring pull-apart connectors to be marked "DO NOT OPEN UNDER LOAD." 11. Provide for permanent marking to identify each photovoltaic system disconnecting means. Specify the exact wording and nature of such marking on the plans. Reference NEC 690.14 (C) (2). 12. For each disconnecting means which may be energized in the open position, specify a warning sign per NEC 690.17, and specify the exact wording on the plans. 13. Clarify on the plans whether the AC and DC Grounding Electrodes are the same. Specify the location of the Grounding Electrode(s). If separate AC and DC Grounding Electrodes are used, they should be bonded together. See NEC 690.47 Handbook commentary. |
