PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT LBUCZYN1@CI.TUCSON.AZ.US IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. Provide overcurrent protection for the source circuits per NEC 690.9 (A). See the attached, from the 2002 Handbook, p. 958. Size such overcurrent protection considering the provisions of 690.9 (C). 2. Specify DC rating for all overcurrent protective devices on DC circuits. See NEC 690.9 (D). 3. Provide overcurrent protection for the photovoltaic output circuit in the row boxes. Reference NEC 240.21. 4. Provide documentation that the STXR 2500 Xantrex Inverter has an indicator for ground fault detection. This information should be in the catalogue cut sheet. 5. Provide a disconnecting means for the photovoltaic power source (DC side of inverter) per NEC 690.13, 690.14, 690.16, and 690.17. Provide marking per 690.14 (c) (2). Provide specifications for such disconnecting means. 6. Provide a disconnecting means on the AC side of the inverter per 690.15, 690.16, and 690.17. Provide signage per 690.17. Provide specifications for such disconnecting means. 7. Specify the size, color and insulation type of conductor and conduit between the inverter and the Sun-Tie breaker. Otherwise, specify color of all conductors and conduit type, typical. 8. Specify the voltage and current rating of the Sun-Tie breaker. Note that this item is diagramed and referenced in the plural, whereas is should be a double pole, single breaker. 9. Please select a different conductor insulation type for the source circuits. Per NEC 690.31 (B), THHN and THWN are not on the list of single-conductor cables permitted for photovoltaic source circuits. 10. Size the grounding electrode conductor from the PV array to the grounding electrode. NEC 250. 11. Explicitly specify how the photovoltaic power source system grounding is to be established. Reference 690.41 and 690.42. 12. Specify listing for row boxes, or provide evidence of certification per UL 508A. 13. Explicitly specify equipment grounding per 690.44 and 690.45. The information presented on the plans is very generalized and incomplete. It may be helpful to generate a separate grounding diagram. 14. Call for a placard per 690.53, located at DC disconnect. Provide exact wording on the plans. 15. Call for a placard per 690.54, located at the Sun-tie breakers. Provide exact wording on the plans, indicating maximum ac operating current and operating ac voltage. 16. Please call for a placard, with the exact wording from 690.17, located at the Main Service Panel. 17. Please demonstrate that in the event of loss of TEP power, the solor photovoltaic system will de-energize. This information should be in the catalogue cut sheet. Reference NEC 690.61 and 705.40. 18. Please demonstrate that the solor photovoltaic system output will be compatible with TEP voltage, frequency, and wave form. This information should be in the catalogue cut sheet. Reference NEC 705.14. |
