| 02/17/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Revise the site drawing to show the size of the both the water meter and the reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. Note that two water meters are shown on detail 2/A1. 2. Provide the minimum plumbing facilities required by Table 2902.1, IBC 2003, for Storage occupancy. 3. The provided plumbing fixture descriptions are inadequate to determine if the fixtures are listed or meet the code standards. Reference Sections 103.2.3 and 401.1, UPC 1994. 4. If the piping design or material to be used for the water supply piping is changed (e.g. using cross-linked polyethylene rather than copper), a revision to the permit will be required along with a revised drawing. Approved piping materials must be used. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 5. Second request. Provide equipment data for the water heater. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 6. Please show the location of the expansion tanks on the plans. Reference Section 608.3, UPC 1994 with AZ State amendments. 7. See comment #7. If the specified water heater is not supplied with integral heat traps, provide heat traps on the supply and discharge piping. Reference Section 804.4, IECC 2000. 8. Second request. Provide water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations. Reference Section 610.4, UPC 1994. 9. Include all fixtures (e.g. hose bibbs) and the water requirements of the HVAC equipment when calculating the total demand and determining pipe sizes. Calculate the water demand using the fixture units shown in Tables 6-3 or A-2 (public) of the 1994 edition of the UPC. Reference Sections 610.1 and 610.3, UPC 1994. 10. Revise the size of the downspout overflows to accommodate the required storm drainage without exceeding the maximum allowable water level on the roof. Reference Section D1.1 (d), UPC 1994. |
| 02/17/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. A separate permit will be required for future tenant improvements. 2. Provide sufficient heat for the restrooms to maintain a minimum temperature of 68°F on a design heating day (32°F). Reference Section 309.1, IMC 2000. 3. Separated buildings are exempt from the requirements of the energy code only if they have a peak energy use of less than 1 Watt per square foot for all purposes. An evaporatively cooled building is not unconditioned. Provide energy code compliance calculations. Reference Sections 101.2 and 101.4.1, International Energy Conservation Code 2000. 4. The fan coil units have been removed from the mechanical floor plan but are still shown on the mechanical equipment schedule; please clarify. Reference Section 106.3.1, IMC 2000. |
| 02/25/2005 | LINDA BUCZYNSKI | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | TRANSMIT ORIGINAL DRAWINGS WITH NEXT SUBMITTAL. PLEASE CALL AT 791-5550 X1106 OR EMAIL AT Linda.Buczynski@tucsonaz.gov IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS. 1. "Provide energy code compliance calculations per IECC 2000 for lighting power budget." This comment was made on the first submittal. IECC 2000 Lighting Power Budget calculations submitted on Revision 1 refer to ASHRAE Table 6-6. There is no such table. ASHRAE Table 9.3.1.1 allows 0.8 W/SF Using the Building Area Method, not 1.0. Calculations submitted for this project would have to use the Building Area Method unless the separate spaces were broken out for Storage, Restrooms, etc. 2. "Sheet 12 calls out for AC-1 and AC-2 as 115V. The equipment is 240V on electrical plans. Coordinate with Mechanical and clarify." This comment was made on the first submittal. Response to Comment indicates that AC was removed. Mechanical Equipment Schedule on revised Sheet H1 still calls for AC-1 & 2. 3. "Provide TEP available fault current." This comment was made on the first submittal. Please certify that TEP was contacted directly regarding this AFC. TEP states in SR-510 that it will design its facilities at new detached single-family residences with services not exceeding 200A such that the maximum fault current does not exceed 10,000A, but does not address commercial facilities which are to have single-phase power. 4. "Provide fault calculations to demonstrate proper rating of equipment." This comment was made on the first submittal. Please note that the City of Tucson does not allow the "Let Through" method of fault current attenuation for downstream panels. 5. Ckt A-1, with 8 receptacles, should have 1440 VA, not 1080. 6. Ckt A-7, with 8 receptacles, should have 1440 VA, not 360. 7. Ckt A-11, with 2 receptacles per plans, has WH on panel schedule. 8. Redraw UFER GND to originate at the Service Disconnect at Panel A, not the meter can. 9. Specify whether the UFER GND is to be Al or Cu. 10. Specify the size of the Grounding Electrode Conductor to the Water Pipe. |
