The canales act as scuppers and cannot be sized using Table D-1 (roof drains and leaders). In addition, the PVC overflow (Keynote 11) is not shown on the drawing. The structural design of the roof must be capable of supporting the weight of the water that rises above the secondary drain if the primary drain is plugged. Reference Section 1611, IBC 2003. 2. The provided calculations are based on the method shown in Appendix A of the 1994 UPC, but are not in accordance with Section 610.4, UPC 1994, which stipulates that Table 6-4 shall be used for water supply systems with less than 50 fixture units and/or developed lengths over 200 feet.
