| 03/31/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The provided calculations do not demonstrate adequate ventilation based on the requirements of Sections 403.3 and 403.3.2, IMC 2000. Revise and resubmit. 2. Show how the recirculation of air from one zone to another (i.e. dissimilar occupancies) complies with the requirements of Section 403.2.1, IMC 2000. 3. The response to Comment #4 stated that the energy recovery unit ERU-1 was to be set to 2055 CFM of exhaust to correspond to the air pressurization summary. Note #3 for the energy recovery unit accessories for the Air Handling Unit Schedule calls for 1550 CFM of exhaust. Please clarify. 4. Show the sizes of the condensate drains. Arizona State law (A.R.S. § 32-145) prevents the contractor from practicing engineering without being registered. The minimum condensate drain size is ¾" and combined condensate drains must be sized for the aggregate condensate flow. Clarify the double condensate drains from the three rooftop units. Reference Sections 307.2 and 307.2.2, IMC 2000 and Section 807.2, UPC 1994. 5. Comment not addressed. Show the size, routing, and termination of the drain from the evaporative cooler. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994. 6. Clarify the positioning of the oxygen room vents as noted in keynote #7, sheet M100. |
| 03/31/2005 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The applicable code for all commercial plumbing projects is the 1994 Uniform Plumbing Code with Arizona State Amendments. Revise the water fixture unit calculations per Section 610.1, UPC 1994. Please note the definition of "Public or Public Use" in Section 202.0, UPC 1994. 2. Resize the reduced pressure backflow preventor to comply to Section 610.2, UPC 1994. Provide a cut sheet for the specified reduced pressure backflow preventer confirming a pressure drop of 7 psi for the calculated flow. Show the location of the backflow preventer on the drawings. 3. Revise the provided water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations to include the static lift (from the meter to the highest outlet). Reference Section 610.4, UPC 1994. 4. Include the water requirements of the HVAC equipment when calculating the total demand and determining pipe sizes. Reference Section 610.1, UPC 1994. Clarify if the pipe is being sized using Table 6-4 or Appendix A of the 1994 UPC. 5. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes over 5 feet in length and for all sinks. Reference Section 707.4, UPC 1994. See P1 and P11 in room 142 and P8 in room 106. 6. Size the natural gas pipe using Table 12-3, UPC or provide calculations demonstrating conformance to Section 1217.3, UPC 1994. The reply to this comment was unclear. If alternate pipe sizing calculations have been used, please provide them. If Table 12-3 is being used, follow the sizing directions shown in Section 1217.2. 7. The information provided regarding the Vetroson Active Anesthesia Scavenger does not show that the system and its installation complies with the requirements of NFPA 99, Chapter 4 (1996 edition) or that the unit is even Listed or Labeled. Reference Appendix F, UPC 1994, as amended by the State of Arizona. 8. The "AE Piping Detail" is not shown on sheet P500. Provide a detail showing the support of the WAGD piping and ceiling mounted inlets as noted in keynote 2 on sheet P102. 9. Special Inspection of the medical gases (e.g. oxygen) and the WAGD system is required. See the attached Special Inspection Certificate, which must be submitted before the permit is issued. Reference Section 306, Uniform Administrative Code, 1997. |
