05/11/2005 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not addressed. (See sheets 1, 1b, 4, 6, and 8) The current energy code is the 2000 International Energy Conservation Code. Provide information to show how the building was determined to be in compliance with the code (i.e. what table was used in chapter 5).
2. Comment not addressed. Show how the specified round sheet metal duct (with insulation) can fit into the available space above the furred area on the first floor. Note: ductwork within the building envelope must have a minimum of R-5 insulation.
05/11/2005 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not addressed. The total flow for the private sewage collection system for this project is in excess of 3000 gallons per day. The design for the system must be submitted to the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality for their approval prior to obtaining a permit for constructing the sewage collection system from the City of Tucson. Reference A. R. S. 49-104 (B) (13).
2. The provided water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations do not support the noted water pipe sizes on sheet 7 and the Water Conservation note on sheet 7. Reference Section 610.5, UPC 1994. The developed pipe length does not appear to be accurate for most of the buildings.
3. Please show the reduced pressure backflow preventer on the drawings.
4. PVC is not an approved material for gas piping in a building. Specify the material to be used for the gas piping. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.
5. Comment not addressed. Limit the water velocity to less than 8 fps for Copper piping. Reference Section A 6.1, UPC 1994; IAPMO IS 3-93, Section 610.0.
6. Clarify the nature of the utility piping as shown on sheet 1b. Label the multiple pipes entering the west side of each building. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.
7. Coordinate the plumbing plan (sheet 7) with the site plan (sheet 1b) for the location of the utility entrances. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.
8. Revise the sizes of the gas piping per Section 1217, UPC 1994.
9. Comment not addressed. Correct the natural gas calculations on sheet 7; the heating value for natural gas in this area is not 1100 BTUH/cubic foot. Reference Section 1216.3, UPC 1994.
10. Show the sizes of all of the pipe sections in the waste and vent isometric. Reference Section 103.2.3, UPC 1994.

IF YOU CARE TO DISCUSS.

1. "Submit cut sheets for exterior lighting fixtures." THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE FIRST SUBMITTAL. No such cut sheets found in current submittal. Please provide such information as necessary for the Plans Examiner to determine compliance with the Lighting Ordinance, and to evaluate whether the fixtures are suitable for their intended location.
2. "Circuit 16 shall not supply any other outlets besides the bathroom receptacle branch circuit. Reference NEC 210-11 (c) (3)." THIS COMMENT WAS MADE ON THE FIRST SUBMITTAL.
3. Circuit designations on plans shall correspond with panel schedule. For example, Circuit 7 on panel schedule instructs the contractor to install all of the bathroom receptacles in this circuit, but on the plans the upstairs bathroom receptacles are on Circuit 16. Comment typical. Check for correspondence on all circuits.
4. Notes under Electrical Plan and under Load Calculations require compliance with 1999 NEC. Change this to 2002 NEC.
5. For the purpose of the load calculations, it appears that there are at least four, not two Small Appliance circuits. Note that the Dining Room and Island shall be included.
6. Add exhaust fans to load calculations.
7. For the Meter Bank Load calculation, the total is 360 A, not 360 VA.
8. As noted in comments for first submittal, NEC 230.32 may not be used because each unit is not equipped with electric cooking equipment. Reference 230.32 (A) (3). It appears that the total would be 360A, such that the sizing of service entrance conductors and conduit, and the sizing of the Grounding Electrode Conductor, need re-evaluation.
9. Electric Riser Diagram shows the panels installed immediately below the meters. According to the Electric Plan, the panels are inside of the apartments. Please clarify, and note that if the panels are to be located inside the apartments then the enclosures immediately below the meters should be changed out to disconnects with overcurrent protective devices for the panels.
10. Specify equipment grounding. Reference NEC Article 250 Part VI.
11. Grounding note on Riser Diagram references NEC 250-111. No such Code Sections in the 2002 NEC. Pls clarify intent.
