| 01/20/2004 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL: q There are no general comments to be addressed. ARCHITECTURAL: q The door from Machinery Room 102 into the Men's Room 103 (first floor) is required to be a 1-hour fire resistive assembly [2000 IBC Sec. 3006.4, and Table 714.2]. Also the frame wall and the floor ceiling separating Machinery Room 102 from the adjacent spaces (Riser Room 105 and Data/Utility 202) needs to be of 1-hour fire resistive construction [2000 IBC Sec. 3006.4 and 707.4]. STRUCTURAL: q There are no structural comments to be addressed. MECHANICAL: q The mechanical systems for the men's and women's restrooms cannot provide recirculated air [2000 IMC Sec. 403.2.1 and Table 403.3]. The air provided to these rooms must be completely exhausted. This previous comments has not been addressed. The response from the mechanical engineer is to imply that a restroom can receive recirculated air from the same restroom. Footnote "b" of Table 403.3 of the 2000 IMC specifically prohibits the recirculation of air from the toilet room. It does not allow recirculation of such air under any circumstances. This also means that transfer air from the restrooms to the unoccupied mechanical room is also prohibited. Air supplied to the mechanical room may be transferred to the restroom [2000 IMC Sec. 403.2.2], however a fire damper must be supplied at any penetrations through the machinery room wall [2000 IBC Sec. 3006.4]. Footnote "b" also requires exhaust air, however the exhaust air currently noted for the restrooms is adequate and not at issue. PLUMBING: q There are no plumbing comments to be addressed. ELECTRICAL: q There are no electrical comments to be addressed. -End of Review- |
