12/08/2003 STANTEC 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied SCOPE OF REVIEW:

The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval.

GENERAL:

q There are no general comments to be addressed.

ARCHITECTURAL:

q Please define more clearly how the accessibility issues are being met in the unisex bathroom shown on Sheet A1.2 along with information on Sheet G1.0:
· What size is the grab bar at the back of the accessible stall? It is not shown in elevation view or plan view, nor is it dimensioned. Please show these bars on the floor plan and indicate their required installation.
· Is there a privacy lock on this unisex bathroom? The restroom was originally a multi-user facility and not a unisex facility; therefore there probably is not a privacy lock as required [2000 IBC Sec. 1108.2.1.7].

q Will information on the self-supporting storage units be submitted as a deferred submittal under this permit, or under a separate permit? Please clarify on the plans.

STRUCTURAL:

q The footing design indicated on Page 6 of the structural calculations indicates a 4'-0" square footing with 4 bars of steel each way. Detail 103 on Sheet S3.1 indicates that an existing footing is to be enlarged for this situation. Is the existing footing continuous or is it a pad footing? Is it minimally 2'-8" wide? If the existing footing is a pad footing, is it to be increased in dimension on 3 sides? Only 3 dowels are indicated to engage the existing footing (4 bars are indicated in the calculations). Please clarify.

q Provide a City of Tucson special inspection for [2000 IBC Chapter 17]:
· Field Welding
· Anchor Bolts Placed in Concrete

MECHANICAL:

q There are no mechanical comments to be addressed.

PLUMBING:

q There are no plumbing comments to be addressed.

ELECTRICAL:

q Please indicate the locations of all existing electrical exits signs and egress illumination for Building #1. The layout of the self-storage units will likely require additional exit signs and egress illumination, however without knowing how extensive the existing exit sign systems are this cannot be evaluated [2000 IBC Sec. 1003.2.10 and 1003.2.11].
