01/16/2004 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL: q Detail 7 on Sheet SP-3 and Detail 2 on Sheet E9.0 both address the same concrete light pole footing. Detail 2 on Sheet E9.0 refers to the structural drawings for the footing depth. The structural drawings do not provide any information regarding this footing. Please coordinate these details. Also, provide a structural calculation to justify the design of this footing. ARCHITECTURAL: q On Sheet CVR-1, the Applicable Codes and Regulations section references the CABO ANSI A117.1-1992 document for accessibility. The correct reference should be to the ICC ANSI A117.1-1998 Version. STRUCTURAL: q On Sheet S1.1 under the heading "Loading", please correct the wind and seismic references to reflect the 2000 International Building Code (IBC). q Please provide a reference within the general structural notes on Sheet S1.1 to the geotechnical report provided with this project (i.e. Western Technologies Job No. 2923JX117 Dated September 9, 2003). Further the notations should indicate that this project requires engineered fill below footings as recommended in the geotechnical report and the bearing capacity of the soil based on meeting the requirements of the geotechnical report. q Provide on Sheet S1.1 along with the general notes the requirement for special inspection per Chapter 17 of the 2000 International Building Code. Specifically note all materials and work requiring special inspection under Chapter 17 [2000 IBC Sec. 1704.1.1]. q Provide a City of Tucson special inspection certificate(s) for the following: · Engineered Fill · Field Welding · Masonry q Provide a note within the general structural notes on Sheet S1.1 regarding deferred submittals for pre-fabricated trusses [2000 IBC Sec. 106.3.4.2]. Truss calculations must be signed, dated and wet-sealed by an engineer who is registered in Arizona. Truss calculations shall be cross-referenced to the floor plans. Also, the Engineer of Record shall review and indicate on the truss drawings that they have been found to be in conformance with the design of the building. Once the Engineer of Record has reviewed and accepted the truss drawings they must be reviewed and approved by the Building Official prior to their installation. q The north wall elevation on Sheet S3.1 indicates on either side of the entrance a 5'-4" (66") pilaster. This corresponds with Page 31 (and Page 17) of the calculations. The foundation plan on Sheet S2.1 and the north wall elevation on Sheet S3.1 both have keyed Detail 3 on Sheet S5.2 as the applicable detail. Detail 3 on Sheet S5.2 shows a 4'-8" (56") wide masonry pilaster. Please correct. There do not appear to be any 4'-8" pilasters anywhere in the project. q Please address the warning regarding the overturning moment ratio on Page SM15 of the structural calculations. This is for the combined footing at the mezzanine. MECHANICAL: q There are no mechanical comments to be addressed. PLUMBING: q There are no plumbing comments to be addressed. ELECTRICAL: q There is a general note on Sheet E5.1 that indicates that the service is designed as a series rated service with a rating of 65,000 A.I.C. Has the fault current been verified with the utility company (Tucson Electric Power)? Please provide verification of the fault current. q All of the exterior metal halide light fixtures that contain lamps over 50 watts need to be fully shielded (so that no light rays are emitted by the fixture at angles above the horizontal plane) [1993 Outdoor Lighting Code, Table 5]. Neither the luminaire schedule on Sheet E2.0 or Sheet E9.1 make it clear that all of these fixtures are "fully shielded". Please clarify on the plans. q On Sheet E2.0, fixture "H", is there a "lens' or "translucent enclosure" enclosing the lamp? Is the lamp for this fixture a metal halide lamp? Metal halide fixture lamps are required to be "filtered", which means that the lamp must be enclosed by a glass, acrylic or translucent enclosure (and not open to the air). Please clarify. -End of Review- |
