| 11/20/2003 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL: q There are no general comments to be addressed. ARCHITECTURAL: q There is a note on the back of the permit card placed there by the Martin Haeberly from the City of Tucson to provide a code analysis which is to include mixed use calculations (and a reference to "Storage?"). Please provide. If paper is the primary storage medium, then the storage needs to be listed as an S-1 and not an S-2. The two-hour wall is sufficient as a "fire barrier" separation with the sprinkler for an S-1 storage separated from an S-2 garage. The wall needs to be identified as a "fire barrier" on the plans (as opposed to a "firewall" which has different requirements). q The description of Wall Types "D" and "E" are confusing relative to Details 5, 8, and 9 on Sheet A3.0. Based on the description in the Wall Legend it appears that Wall Type "D" is: ยท For the lower 48", a concrete wall. The upper portion of the wall above 48" is then two parallel stud wall partitions with 2 layers of 5/8" type "X" gypsum board on the outside of each parallel wall, filled with fiberglass batt insulation (what thickness or R-value?) and with a layer of steel security mesh in this assembly somewhere. The concrete face of the lower wall is to align with the face of the gypsum board (Detail 8 does not show it this way). Detail 8 is noted in the legend but it does not fit this description. Only one framed wall is shown (a second is noted but when does it occur?) Where is the security mesh? Detail 5 shows only a single layer of gypsum on both sides (is it to be a single layer at Wall Type "F" and two layers at Detail "D"?) Is Wall Type "E" the same except that the lower 48" concrete wall has hat channels and 1 layer of 5/8" gypsum board on both sides of the concrete wall? Detail 9 is referenced but where are the hat channels? Detail 8 shows hat channels but they are not noted. Detail 8 is supposed to coordinate with Wall Type "D" which implies that the concrete wall is exposed with no hat channels and gypsum board. Please coordinate the descriptions of these wall types and the details. q There are generic elevations for bathroom accessories however, where do these accessories go in "these" bathrooms? Toilets, urinals, partitions, and lavatories are shown at 1/8" scale, but for example, where is the paper towel/waste receptacle to be placed (hopefully not behind the door)? STRUCTURAL: q There are no structural comments to be addressed. MECHANICAL: q There are no mechanical comments to be addressed. PLUMBING: q There are no plumbing comments to be addressed. ELECTRICAL: q A fault current calculation has been provided on Sheet E1.0 (and the Alt. E1.0 as well). However, fault rating has not been indicated for any of the equipment. Is this to be a series rated system? What is to be the rating of the panels? Please clarify. -End of Review- |
