10/27/2003 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL: q There are no general comments to be addressed. ARCHITECTURAL: q Please clarify that the width clearance between the lavatory and the sidewall next to the toilet is a minimum of 60 inches. The lavatory cannot be placed within the toilet clearance space [1998 ICC/ANSI A117.1 - 1998 Sec. 604.3]. This clearance currently appears to be only 36" as scaled on the plans (48" on Elevation "B"). Only the new restrooms need to be addressed; the existing restroom can remain unaltered. q The safety glazing information on Sheet A4 does not cover all cases. The glazing on either side of the storefront doors on the North Elevation also needs to be safety glass (8 additional panels) [2000 IBC Sec. 2406.2, Item 6]. The panels that are 60" above the walking surface do not have to be addressed. q The plans need to clearly indicate that the "mezzanine" does not meet the definition of a mezzanine and shall therefore be considered a second floor [2000 IBC Sec. 505]. q Detail 8 on Sheet A3 indicates that the stair risers exceed the maximum riser height of 7 inches [2000 IBC Sec. 1003.3.3.3]. Please correct. The section on Sheet A4 shows 16 risers, which will equate to 6.75-inch risers. q Provide more information on the handrails at the stairs. The stairs are required to have handrails on both sides [2000 IBC Sec. 1003.3.3.11]. Also, what is the height, distance from the wall, and diameter of these handrails? How far do they extend at the top and bottom of the stair run? STRUCTURAL: q Provide a City of Tucson Special Inspection Certificate for epoxy anchors [2000 IBC Chapter 17]. MECHANICAL: q There are no mechanical comments to be addressed. PLUMBING: q There are no plumbing comments to be addressed. ELECTRICAL: q Note on the one-line diagram that the bonding conductor shall also connect to the buildings' gas piping system(s) [1999 NEC Art. 250-104]. -End of Review- |
