| 10/14/2003 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. GENERAL: q There are no general comments to be addressed. ARCHITECTURAL: q Sheet A-1 indicates there is a 2-hour "firewall" separating the garage portion of the building from the office portion [2000 IBC Sec. 705]. Was it intended to call this separation a "firewall" or a "fire barrier" [2000 IBC Sec. 706]? If this separation is required to be a "firewall" then Doors 02, 03, 22, and Roll-up Door 23 also need to be protected by rated assemblies [2000 IBC Sec. 705.3]. Please clarify. q Women's 109 and Men's 110 require more clearance around the toilets. The clear space for the toilet needs to be 56" deep by 60" wide, with no other fixtures encroaching within this clear space [ANSI A117.1 -1998 Sec. 604.3]. A dimension has not been provided, however the clear width scales at 52" and 47" respectively. The toilet in the HC Locker Room 122 also requires more clearance (only 58" provided by scale). q The walls of Janitor's Closet 118 are required to be of 1-hour construction [2000 IBC Sec. 1005.3.2.2], similar to the walls of Storage 119 (because they are usable spaces under stairs). STRUCTURAL: q The shop drawings for the metal building need to be submitted as part of the review package, and not as a deferred submittal. These shop drawings must also be reviewed by the Engineer of Record for conformance to his design intent and must have a review stamp provided by the Engineer of Record indicating such. q The calculation on Page 4 for a footing at Grid "P2" indicates this footing is to be a 5'-6" square footing. Sheet S1 shows this same footing as a 5'-0". Please coordinate. q Should the calculation on Page 5 for footings at Grids D3 and U3 instead be referencing D3 and S3? Please clarify? q Based on the following items, a special inspection certificate for engineered fill is required (the footings will not go deeply enough into native material): · the top of footing elevations indicated in the footing schedule on Sheet S1 · the finished floor elevation and topography lines on Sheet 1 of 3 · the geotechnical report MECHANICAL: q Vehicle repair garages where engine work takes place involving the "running" of the vehicle requires a source capture system [2000 IMC Sec. 502.13]. Please provide a source capture system for this facility. PLUMBING: q Please confirm the location of the gas meter (the meter is not shown on the gas layout on Sheet P-1). The developmental length from the meter appears to be less than 350 feet assuming the meter is next to the building. q What is the size of the gas pipe main between ITU#1 and ITU#2? Please clarify. ELECTRICAL: q There are no electrical comments to be addressed. |
