08/20/2003 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | GENERAL: q There are no general comments to be addressed. ARCHITECTURAL: q Through this alteration of the building, the first floor restrooms need to be brought into compliance with accessibility requirements [2000 IBC Sec. 3408.5]. The "accessible" stall within the women's restrooms is too narrow to provide the required accessibility. It needs to be 60" wide minimum [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 604.8.8.1]. The depth of the men's room stall is also marginal. It needs to be 59" deep, and it currently scales slightly less (Detail 2 on Sheet A601). Revise the restroom layout to comply. q Restrooms 107, 217, and 218 as shown on Sheet A601 need to clearly indicate that the clear width at the toilet has been provided. There needs to be a clear width from the edge of the lavatory cabinet to the sidewall next to the toilet of 60" [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 604.3.1]. Toilet Room 107 scales as compliant, but Toilet Rooms 217 and 218 do not. Please indicate on the plans. q What is the significance of the dark "squiggled" line shown on the enlarged restroom plans on Sheet A601? Please clarify. q Detail 1 on Sheet A603 shows an enlarged stair plan. At the down stairs landing, the one handrail does not extend the amount required for accessibility. Handrails need to extend 12" plus the depth of one tread beyond the last riser [ANSI A117.1-1998 Sec. 505.10.3]. STRUCTURAL: q Provide a City of Tucson special inspection certificate(s) for the following: · Concrete · Field Welding · Epoxy / Expansion Anchors MECHANICAL: q On Sheet M1.1 the demolition plan indicates that there are 6 VAV units to be removed and relocated. The adjacent new mechanical plan indicates 7 relocated VAV units. Please clarify. Is the 7th unit a new VAV? q Demonstrate how outside air is being provided to satisfy the amount required by code [2000 IMC Table 403.3]. Also, how is outside air being supplied to all of the conditioned space within this area of remodel? PLUMBING: q There are no plumbing comments to be addressed. ELECTRICAL: q Please locate all electrical exit signs (new, existing, and relocated existing). Some of the locations where exit signs should be shown do not show any exit signs. -End of Review- |
