07/28/2003 STANTEC 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval.

GENERAL:

q There are no general comments to be addressed.

ARCHITECTURAL:

q The main egress doors (i.e. the front doors) are required to have a sign posted above the door which reads "THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED" [2000 IBC Sec. 1003.3.1.8].

STRUCTURAL:

q Provide special inspection certificates for the following:
· Engineered Fill
· Concrete
· High Strength Bolting
· Masonry

q The shop drawings for the metal building need to be submitted as part of the review package, and not as a deferred submittal. These shop drawings must also be reviewed by the Engineer of Record for conformance to his design intent and must have a review stamp provided by the Engineer of Record indicating such.

MECHANICAL:

q Provide calculation justifying the amount of outside air provided. The amount of outside air currently being provided appears insufficient [2000 IMC Table 403.3]. A retail store requires 0.30 c.f.m. per square foot (0.15 c.f.m. per square foot for the shipping and receiving area). Based on the 1,950 c.f.m. being provided the maximum retail area would be 6,500 square feet (and this doesn't account for the shipping and receiving area). The current retail area is over 8,000 square feet.

q How does fan coil "F-5" receive the 390 c.f.m. of outside air it is scheduled to receive? The other units appear to have ducted outside air, while this unit does not. Please clarify.

PLUMBING:

q The pressure and temperature relief line cannot discharge into the drain pan [1994 UPC Sec. 608.5]. The discharge must be continuous to the outside. The drain pan therefore needs to have its own separate drain line [1994 UPC Sec. 510.7].

q It is assumed that the water heater is being mounted above the Women's Room ceiling (it is not shown on the reflected ceiling plan). Therefore, provide access for servicing the above ceiling water heater [1994 UPC Sec. 511.0]. Th current ceiling is a hard ceiling and does not provide access. Also, permanent ladder access is required for any water heater mounted on a platform at 8'-0" or higher above the finish floor [1994 UPC Sec. 511.2].

ELECTRICAL:

q Where is the CT Cabinet and meter located on the electrical power plan?

q Where did the fault current information provided on the panels come from? Has a fault current calculation been done? Please provide.
