Sheet 1 and 2 of 2

1. Site plans are noted for reference only, preliminary. Please provide released for construction site plans, signed, sealed and dated by the registrant, showing dimensions fro property lines to proposed building. Reference IBC Section 106.2.


ARCHITECTUAL COMMENTS:

Sheet 1.1

1. The flame spread class for other exitways is C, rather than B as shown. Please correct. Reference IBC Section 803.

2. Please identify the project location address on the drawing. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.

3. Storage rooms over 100 square feet shall be constructed with 1-hour fire-resistive rated fire barrier from floor to underside of roof deck and have a ¾ hour rated door. Please review and clarify. Reference IBC Section 302.1.1.

Sheet 1.2

1. The elevation designation is not well coordinated. Please correct using the prime compass points. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.

2. Please identify all required tempered glazing. Reference IBC Section 2406.

Sheet 7.1

1. Roofs that do not drain freely over the eaves shall have a primary and secondary rainwater drainage system. The primary system either roof drains or scuppers. Roof drains shall be sized pursuant to the 1994 UPC based on the roof area drained and three-inch rainfall per hour. Secondary overflow scuppers shall be designed using six-inch rainfall per hour. Inlet elevation of overflow scupper shall be 2 inches above the primary roof drain inlet. Please review, clarify, and coordinate all drawings. Reference IBC Sections 1503.4 and 1611, IPC Sections 1105, 1106, and 1107, UPC Section 306.2, and UPC Appendix D.

Sheet 8.1

1. Egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. The main egress door may be key operated provided that a readily visible sign is posted on or adjacent to the main door stating: "THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED WHEN BUILDING IS OCCUPIED." Please review and clarify the posting of the required sign next to the main entrance/exit door, and identify in the hardware schedule that all other egress doors are openable from the egress side without the use of a key or special knowledge or effort. Reference IBC Section 1003.3.1.8.

2. Please coordinate door width and height, and ditto marks. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.

Sheet 9.1

1. Materials and installation of suspended ceiling shall be noted for compliance with ASTM C635 / C636. Reference IBC Section 803.8.1.1.

Sheet 9.2

1. Please clarify abbreviations and placement of ditto marks for required materials. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.


STRUCTURAL COMMENTS:

Sheet 3.0

1. Masonry shall be noted for compliance with ACI 530/530.1. Reference IBC Sections 2104, 2106.1.2, and 2107.

2. ASTM C-90-1999 requires the class of materials used to make CMU be identified as either normal weight, 125 pcf or greater; medium weight, 105 pcf to less than 125 pcf; or light weight less than 125 pcf. Please review, clarify, and coordinate drawings and calculations. Reference IBC Section 2103.1.

3. Masonry grouting cleanouts are required when the grout pour height exceeds 5 feet. The maximum grout lift is 5 feet, and the grout pour height limitation is governed by the parameters in Table 7 of ACI 530.1. Please review and clarify requirements.

4. Tucson is in a known region of sulfate-containing soils. Concrete exposed to moderate sulfate-containing soils shall conform to the requirements of IBC Table 1904 using Type II Portland cement. Please review and clarify water-soluble sulfate in soil and Portland cement type for concrete in direct contact with foundation soils. Reference IBC Section 1904.3.

5. Verification is required for the project concrete design mix and concrete materials, and other special inspection items. Please review and list all required special inspections, and provide the City of Tucson Special Inspection and Testing Agreement. Reference IBC Section 1704.4.

6. Wood truss design shall be noted to be sealed by an Arizona licensed engineer, and the submittal shall comply with the requirements of IBC Section 2303.4.1. Trusses shall not be installed prior to the building official approval of the deferred design submittal. Reference IBC Section 106.3.4.

Sheet 5.1

1. Motor drive roof top units shall have dead load weight increase by 20% for the design of structural members. Please identify and clarify on the drawing. Reference IBC Section 1607.8.2.

Sheet 6.1

1. Proprietary Simpson purlin anchors require a minimum of 32" x 32" of grouted CMU panel at each anchor. Please review and clarify on the drawings. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.


PLUMBING COMMENTS:

Sheet 15.1

1. Building sewer and drainage piping shall be noted to sloped at 2% minimum. Reference UPC Sections 708 and 718.

Sheet 15.3

1. The medical gas manifold shall be within a 1-hour rated enclosure. Please review and clarify. Reference UPC Section 4.3.1.1.2(a).

2. Please identify stored qualities of medical gases. Reference UPC Section 4.3.1.1.2(b).

Sheet 15.4

1. Please provide a dimensioned gas isometric drawing and gas demand at each outlet for proper sizing of gas piping. Reference UPC Section 1217.

Sheet 15.6

1. Discipline drawing shall be noted for compliance with the 2000 IBC and the 1998 IECC as adopted by the City of Tucson, and the 1994 UPC with State of Arizona amendments.

2. Medical gas systems shall be noted for compliance, not only with the NFPA 99, but also the 1994 UPC with State of Arizona amendments. Special Inspection is required. Reference UPC Appendix F.


MECHANICAL COMMENTS:

Sheet 15.8

1. Discipline drawing shall identify compliance with 2000 IBC, 1998 IECC, and 2000 IMC as adopted by the City of Tucson. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.

2. Please identify the installed connect weights for the roof top units. Reference IBC Section 1606.2.


ELECTRICAL COMMENTS:

Sheet E0

1. The building official has requested that discipline drawings identify the governing codes and the edition. Please identify code compliance with 2000 IBC, 1998 IECC, and 1999 NEC as adopted by the City of Tucson. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.

2. All outdoor luminaries shall comply with the City of Tucson Outdoor Lighting Code Table 5 for light source and shielding required. Please provide catalog cuts of all outdoor lighting fixtures, showing compliance with the Outdoor Lighting Code as adopted by the City of Tucson. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1.

Sheet E1

1. Please clarify the weight for the proposed lighting fixtures and method of support. Reference City of Tucson Amendment NEC 410-16.c.

2. The exit discharge on the exterior side of the building exit doors shall have emergency illumination. Please review, coordinate, and clarify. Reference IBC Section 1003.2.11.2.


ENERGY CODE COMMENTS:

Sheet 15.8

1. Duct sealing note shall be clarified as follows: All joints, longitudinal and transverse seams, and connections in ductwork shall be securely fastened and sealed with welds, gaskets, mastics (adhesives), mastic-plus-embedded fabric systems, or tapes. Tapes and mastics used to seal ductwork shall be listed and labeled in accordance with UL 181A and UL 181B. "Duct tape" shall not be used. Reference IECC Section 703.8.

2. The plans and specifications shall identify glazing and door U-values, solar heat gain coefficient, R-values for building and service duct and pipe insulation, equipment performance efficiency, design criteria, and other pertinent data to indicate conformance with the requirements of this code. Commercial buildings of three stories with glazing not greater than 40% of the gross area of above-grade walls may use design by acceptable practice. Reference IECC Sections 104.2 and 702.

Sheet E1

1. Interior lighting shall have manual controls to allow the occupant to uniformly reduce the connected lighting load by at least 50 percent. Please review and clarify. Reference IECC Section 705.2.1.


ACCESSIBILITY COMMENTS:

Sheet 1.1

1. The net clear width adjacent to the latch side of an accessible swing door shall not be less than 18 inches. Please review and show required dimension at all applicable doors. Reference IBC Section 1108 and ANSI 117.1-1998.

2. Please clarify that one of each type of specialty service room is accessible. Reference IBC Section 1108.12.


3. Please provide details for construction of toilet rooms in compliance with ANSI 117.1. Reference IBC Section 1008.
