06/23/2003 STANTEC 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied SCOPE OF REVIEW:

The scope of this review covers Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval.

GENERAL:

q The code references on Sheet 1 need to be corrected in two locations. The City of Tucson has adopted the following:
· The City has adopted the 2000 International Fire Code (2000 IFC). The reference on the code analysis data is to NFPA 13 (which is a referenced document in the 2000 IFC).
· The City has adopted the 2000 IBC (Chapter 11) which also references ANSI A117.1-1998 for accessibility. The reference in the code analysis data is to the ICC 2000.

ARCHITECTURAL:

q Clearly identify the required clearance at the toilets between the wall nearest the side of the toilet and the neighboring lavatory as 60 inches [ANSI A117.1 - 1998 Sec. 604.3]. The clear space currently shown (and not dimensioned) is only 42 inches at best. There are two bathrooms affected.

q A floor drain has been shown in the mechanical room on Sheet A1 (Keyed Note 14), however the plumbing drawings do not show this drain. Please coordinate.

STRUCTURAL:

q Provide special inspection certificates for the following:
· Engineered Fill
· Field Welding
· Masonry

q The J5 and J6 members as shown on the framing plan on Sheet S3 extend beyond their bearing points at one end (actually cantilevering about 5 to 6 feet)? Where is the detail that shows this extension beyond the bearing line? The 3 details keyed at this cantilever situation don't describe what is happening. Detail 8 on Sheet on Sheet 5 appears to be the correct detail. Please coordinate all detail references.

q Where is the specification for the plywood for the exterior walls? The calculations on Page 50 indicate that the plywood is to be ½" however the general notes on Sheet S3 nor Detail 3 on Sheet S4 which covers plywood wall sheathing indicate the thickness or grade of the plywood. Please indicate.

q What size are the footings at the canopy. Column sizes are designated on the foundation plan but the footing information appears to be missing. Please provide.

MECHANICAL:

q Provide calculations demonstrating that the requirements have been met for outside air [2000 IMC Table 403.3].

PLUMBING:

q A floor drain has been shown in the mechanical room on Sheet A1 (Keyed Note 14), however the plumbing drawings do not show this drain. Please coordinate.

q Detail 7 on Sheet P3 indicates that the pressure and temperature relief line is to go to a mop sink (fixture P-4). Please show the routing of this pipe.

ELECTRICAL:

q Does Circuit 27 on Panel P-3 have ground fault circuit protection (GFCI)? This circuit feeds receptacles in the Cosmetic Room (Room 144). There is a receptacle on a counter next to the sink and a floor receptacle in front of a shower. Please address.
