07/10/2003 STANTEC 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied The scope of this review covers Architectural and Structural only for a foundation only permit, along with the plumbing and electrical underground work that will be covered over by this foundation work. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval.

The project was reviewed under the City of Tucson's local amendments to UBC Chapter 11. All accessibility requirements must be identified and detailed on the plans according to those rules and guidelines.

GENERAL:

q For this phase of the project we have 3 copies of the plans and 3 copies of the calculations. We need 1 additional set of all documents (plans and calculations) for the resubmittal, and 3 sets of the development plan. We require 1 set for our records and the City of Tucson is requiring 3 sets which are to be distributed as follows:
· 1 copy stays with the City for their records.
· 1 copy is the permit set that the applicant receives and maintains in the field.
· 1 copy goes to Pima County as part of the City's annexation agreement with the County.

ARCHITECTURAL:

q There are no architectural comments to be addressed.

STRUCTURAL:

q The foundation design has changed in the area of Wing "D" where it abuts Wings "B" and "C". The footing North of Grid Line 14 is still labeled as a W2, however it is now taking different loads. Previously (Phase II Set) this footing was marked as a W2 on Sheet S2.01 as a W3 on Sheet S2.03 (an apparent conflict). Now the wall is retaining more. Please clarify.

q Please note on Sheet S3.01 the change to Shearwalls #12 and #14. The note could just refer the reader to the approved revision dated June 24, 2003 for revisions to these designs.

(Note: Pages 2 and 3 of the structural calculations should be referenced for many of the following comments.)

q Page 5 of the structural calculations indicates that along Band A-1, one bearing point has a "GG" type of column head steel reinforcing; however this arrangement is not present along Grid Line 17 on Sheet S2.03. Please clarify.

q Page 5 of the structural calculations indicates that along Band A-1, one span between bearing points has 12 #5's x 18' long used; however this arrangement is not present along Grid Line 17 on Sheet S2.03. Please clarify.

q Page 18 of the structural calculations indicates that along Band A-2, one bearing point has a "II" and a "JJ" type of column head steel reinforcing; however this arrangement is not present along Grid Line 18 on Sheet S2.03. Please clarify.

q Page 18 of the structural calculations indicates that along Band A-2, one span between bearing points has 8 #5's x 15' long used; however this arrangement is not present along Grid Line 18 on Sheet S2.03. Please clarify.

q Page 30 of the structural calculations indicates that along Band A-3 the last two spans are 10' and 26' long, however Sheet S2.03 shows that this column line separating these spans is more like 6' and 32' respectively (check along grid lines "M" and "N"). Please clarify.

q Page 64.2 (new page) of the structural calculations indicate that along Band A-6 the last span is 25' long, however Sheet S2.03 shows that this column line separating these spans is more like 32' (see previous comment since this Band is parallel to Band A-3). Please clarify.

q Page 64.2 (new page) of the structural calculations indicate that along Band A-6, two bearing points have a "GG" type of column head steel reinforcing; however this arrangement is not present along Grid Lines L.1 and O.1 on Sheet S2.03. Please clarify.

q Page 64.48 (new page) of the structural calculations indicate that along Band A-9, the steel cables run the full length of the band over 8 columns. Sheet S2.06 shows along this band (grid line 41) that the band is interrupted by a stressing pour strip, with the slabs on either side of the strip tied to each other with reinforcing bars. The calculations do not reflect this part of the design. Please provide calculation to address this portion of the design.

q Page 64.62 (new page) of the structural calculations indicate that along Band A-10, the steel cables run the full length of the band over 6 columns. Sheet S2.06 shows along this band (grid line 40) that the band is interrupted by a stressing pour strip, with the slabs on either side of the strip tied to each other with reinforcing bars. The calculations do not reflect this part of the design. Please provide calculation to address this portion of the design.

q Page 64.62 of the calculations shows a "II" type of column head reinforcing location, however this location differs from the location shown on Sheet S2.06. The calculations show it located on the 2nd and 5th column while the plans show the 1st and 6th column. Please coordinate.

q Page 64.74 (new page) of the structural calculations indicate that along Band A-11 the steel cables run length of the band over 5 columns. Sheet S2.06 shows this band (grid lines 41 and 42) spans only a couple of columns before becoming a part of Band A-9. Please clarify.
