| 09/09/2003 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | SCOPE OF REVIEW: The scope of this review covers Architectural and Structural only for a foundation only permit, along with the plumbing and electrical underground work that will be covered over by this foundation work. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittal provided. All portions of the project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval. The project was reviewed under the City of Tucson's local amendments to UBC Chapter 11. All accessibility requirements must be identified and detailed on the plans according to those rules and guidelines. GENERAL: q For this phase of the project we have 3 copies of the plans and 3 copies of the calculations. We need 1 additional set of all documents (plans and calculations) for the resubmittal. We have all the sets of development plans now for Phases VI and VII. We require 1 set for our records and the City of Tucson is requiring 3 sets which are to be distributed as follows: · 1 copy stays with the City for their records. · 1 copy is the permit set that the applicant receives and maintains in the field. · 1 copy goes to Pima County as part of the City's annexation agreement with the County. ARCHITECTURAL: q There are no architectural comments to be addressed. STRUCTURAL: q Sheet S2.21, the post-tension layout is not accurately reflected in the calculations (Page 2A). There are 2 additional bands along Grid 33 and 34 on Level P1. Where are these addressed in the calculations? q Sheet S2.21, along Grid 10 between Grids Z and BB.3, the post-tension cables have fixed ends "at both ends". Please correct. q Please note on Sheet S3.01 the change to Shearwalls #12 and #14. The note could just refer the reader to the approved revision dated June 24, 2003 for revisions to these designs. (Note: Pages 2 through 6 of the structural calculations should be referenced for many of the following comments.) q Page 107 indicates that shear stirrups are to be provided @ one end of BAND G-6. Sheets S2.26 and S2.27 where BAND G-6 can be found indicates that shear stirrups are to be provided at Area "H" and makes no reference to providing them at Area "G" where BAND G-6 is located. Please correct. q Page 130.91 of the structural calculations indicates that along BAND G-14 this band is continuous, however there is a gap indicated in the post tension design between Grid Y and Z along Grid 10 on Sheet S2.21. Please clarify. Is there to be any reinforcing bringing these two tensioned elements together? q Page 172 of the structural calculations indicates that the stressing end of UNIF G-3 is to have at the column head a 16" thickened slab and shear stirrups. Sheet S2.2 shows along the unnamed grid (approx. Grid 35) that shear stirrups are being provided at the column heads but does not indicate that the slab is thickened (it is 15" thick at the dead end). Please clarify. q Page 276 of the structural calculations indicates that Shearwall #2 is to be 26 feet long. Between Page 275 of the structural calculation and Sheet S2.19 this same shearwall is designated SW22 on the plans. Sheet S3.02 shows that shear wall SW22 is only being constructed as a 17' long shear wall. Please clarify this discrepancy. Going back through the earlier approved materials, this wall was originally calculated as a 16' long shear wall. What has changed? q Provide the shearwall analysis for Wing "G" shearwall SW4 (Page 276 of the calculations), also known as shearwall SW24 on Sheet S3.02. It is missing from the structural calculations. -End of Review- |
