05/29/2003 | STANTEC | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | GENERAL: q There are no general comments to be addressed. ARCHITECTURAL: q Clearly identify the required clearance at the toilets between the wall nearest the side of the toilet and the neighboring fixtures as 60 inches [ANSI A117.1 - 1998 Sec. 604.3]. The plans appear by scale to meet the requirement, however a dimension clarifying the issue will avoid problems in the field. q A separate overflow scupper has been provided for the roof drains located at the back of the carwash [1994 UPC Appendix D, Sec. D1.1 (d)], however the rim of the overflow scuppers need to be no greater than 2" above the rim of the roof drain. Provide the dimension. Between the sump and the cant at the scupper detail this 2" dimension is probably exceeded. q Detail 13 on Sheet A06 notes the scupper as 8" x 8" while the roof plan (Sheet A02) and the rear elevation (Sheet A04) indicate that the opening is 8" x 16". Please coordinate. STRUCTURAL: q Provide a City of Tucson special inspection form(s) for the following: · Engineered Fill · Concrete · Reinforcing Steel · Field Welding · Masonry q The "Basis of Design" page within the structural calculation need to be modified to remove the reference to the City of Glendale (and to include the City of Tucson). q The canopy joists are calculated as 2x6's at 24" o.c., however the design has been changed to 4x6's at 48" o.c. with 2x4 flat sleepers at 24" o.c. Provide a new calculation for this different member size and spacing. q Provide a structural calculation for the light pole footing described in Detail 111 on Sheet S4.1 (and Details G8 and G12 on Sheet SD2). q Does the foundation design shown for the gas pump canopy take into account the recommendations of the geotechnical report submitted for this project (requiring engineered fill)? The geotechnical report does not address a "caisson" type footing. Please clarify. q Is there to be a closure pour over the steel column base plate for the gas pump canopy (reference Madison Sheet 1 of 1, Typical Footing Detail)? MECHANICAL: q Sheet M1 indicates 1 exhaust fan while Sheet E7 indicates 2 exhaust fans. Please coordinate. PLUMBING: q A backwater valve is required for the sewer line serving this building [1994 UPC Sec. 710.0]. The finish floor of the building is 12.40' (Sheet 3 of 6) while the rim of the next upstream manhole is indicated at 14.75' (Sheet 2 of 6). The flood level rims of all plumbing fixtures need to be at or above the manhole cover. It appears that the bathroom lavatories and the two hand washing sinks (one of which is a future sink) are the only fixtures which will need to be connected downstream of the backwater valve. ELECTRICAL: q Sheet E7 indicates 2 exhaust fans while Sheet M1 shows only 1 exhaust fan. Please coordinate. q Egress illumination needs to be provided in the main area of the store [2000 IBC Sec. 1003.2.11]. -End of Review- |
