| 04/07/2003 | GP | 3RD PARTY REVIEW-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | ARCHITECTURAL COMMENTS Sheet A-1 1. Please clarify if permits are being requested for 2 or 3 equipment cabinets. The schematic elevation appears to identify 2 new and 1 future cabinet. If the future cabinet is for a colocation by another company, please note that separate permitting is required. STRUCTURAL COMMENTS General 1. The structural design report refers to a geotechnical report prepared by Gray and Associates dated April 21, 2000. The geotechnical report which was submitted for permits has been prepared by CSI and is dated March 11, 2003. Please coordinate the report references and design with the information submitted for the permit review. 2. The geotechnical report submitted for review references the 1997 UBC soil classification criteria. The subsurface conditions summary describes clayey sand and clayey gravel. The City of Tucson governing code is the 2000 IBC. Allowable foundation and lateral pressure criteria are described in IBC Table 1804.2. SC and SG material classification, as described in the report, are listed as item 4 in the table. 3. The seismic zone reference provided from the 1997 UBC is not consistent with the 2000 IBC Seismic design provisions may be found in sections 1614-1623 of the 2000 IBC. 4. On page F5 of the structural calculations, the appropriate code reference to the design criteria for depth to resist lateral loads in a nonconstrained condition such as the monopole being considered is IBC 1805.7.2.1. The formula, d=0.5A[1+(1+(4.36h/A))1/2], is essentially the same and is identified as equation 18-1. Specify the lateral bearing and lateral sliding resistance values used for S1 derivation from Table 1804.2 or demonstrate values used are consistent with the geotechnical investigation. 5. The structural calculations utilize a 75 mph maximum wind speed. Sheet A2 of the drawings specify an 80 mph basic wind speed. For the City of Tucson, in accordance with IBC Table 1609.3.1., the 3 second wind gust factor and basic wind factor are 90 mph and 75 mph respectively. ELECTRICAL COMMENTS Sheet E-1 1. Specify the ground ring depth, length and bare copper conductor size or reference grounding plan depicted on Sheet E-3. Ref. NEC 250-50 (2) (d). Sheet E-4 1. Provide a note on the light fixture detail that this is to be a fully shielded fixture. For the City of Tucson jurisdiction, fully shielded shall mean outdoor light fixtures shielded or constructed so that no light rays are emitted by the installed fixture at angles above the horizontal plane, as certified by photometric test report. |
