This project has been reviewed for conformance with the 2000 IBC, 1997 UAC, 2000 IMC, 1998 IECC, 1999 NEC codes with local modifications, and the 1994 UPC with State of Arizona Amendments. Any revisions to this plan will require an additional review and approval by Willdan. ARCHITECTUAL COMMENTS: The architectural portion was not a part of this review. STRUCTURAL COMMENTS: Wood Roof Joist Submittal 1. The project building's design engineering drawing calls for roof joist design drawings and calculations to be submitted under a qualified Arizona registrant's professional seal. However, the manufacturer's product drawings as approved by the building engineer's office are not sealed by the manufacturer's product design engineer. The engineer's review calls for a revision in the design dead load declared on the summary sheet. The product design engineer's drawing shall be appropriately coordinated, professionally sealed, signed and dated prior to resubmittal for approval. The deferred design submittal roof joists shall not be installed prior to receiving the approval of the building official. Reference IBC Section 106.4.3.2. 2. The approved permitted drawings identify commercial TJI/L-series wood roof joists. However, the manufacturer's submittal documents as reviewed and approved by the building engineer's office are not TJI/L-series wood joists. The manufacturer's submittal documents identify residential TJIPro-series joists. There is now a disparity between what is on the approved permitted drawings and the deferred design roof joist submittal. The building engineer shall review and cause the permitted drawings and product submittal documents to be in agreement. Reference IBC Sections 106.1.1, 2303.1.2, and 1604.4. 3. The end support conditions on the deferred design submittal drawings are not coordinated with the supporting ledger material thickness and details shown on the permitted drawings. Cutting of TJI joist flanges is not permitted under PFC-4354. Please review and coordinate requirements to establish the correct joist length. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1. 4. The deferred design submittal documents call for proper attachment and positioning of lateral bracing to achieve member stability. Please review, clarify, and include specific manufacturer requirements with the submittal. Reference IBC Section 106.1.1. 5. Please identify the specific approved fabricator location for the manufacture of the proposed joists. The location of manufacture must be in agreement with the PFC-4354 and quality control inspections by PFS Corporation. At completion of fabrication, the approved fabricator shall submit a certificate of compliance to the building official. Reference IBC Section 1704.2. Steel Shop Drawings 1. Steel shop drawings evidencing required cutting and fitting to the requirements of permitted drawings and not involved with engineering the design of steel products are not required to be submitted to the building official. Reference IBC Section 106. PLUMBING COMMENTS: The plumbing portion was not a part of this review. MECHANICAL COMMENTS: The mechanical portion was not a part of this review.
